Current km/miles on your X3 and Repairs done

Hey, I thought I would start this post because my car was humming along until just last year during Boxing Day when my timing chain alignment broke. After getting that replace, there were a few other items that came up that I had to fix. Just wondering what km/miles others are getting out of their car so I can look forward to that or expect to replace it soon. What minor or major repair have you had to do since you got the car. I will start with this format.

Car: 2013 X3 Xdrive28i
Current km/miles: 220,000km

Minor/Major Repair:
12/2022 - Timing chain kit replacement
01/2023 - Vacuum pump replacement
08/2023 - Vanos adjuster valve replacement

Car: 2016 X3 xdrive28i (LCI)
Current km/miles: ~80k(almost 50k miles)

Minor/major repair:
Absolutely nothing, all regular maintenance on time. Any advice for preventative replacements?

I think you are doing well with just the regular maintenance. Don't think there is anything that you can replace as a preventative measure as it would just be a waste of money, if that part never breaks down and you still have low km.

2016 X3 35i - Currently 60k miles.

Bought the car 2 years ago with 48,500 miles.

Only thing that was needed mechanically:
VRSF Chargepipe - Stock one blew up on day 2 of ownership.

Others:
3x oil changes
New tires
New Battery (By choice, didn't want to get stranded)
Brake Fluid flush

And that's it... will probably flush my TC/Diff's/Trans soon maybe. TBD

2014 28i with 72,000 miles. Only actual repair in the history of the car is seals on the oil filter housing gasket. Not even a burned out bulb. Otherwise, one battery, a new belt, one set of pads and rotors, plugs, filters, tires and oil.

Wow, that is quite detailed which I am sure you have kept a log of all the maintenance and repair. You've saved yourself tons of money doing these yourself, wish I was that handy.

Don't sell yourself short my friend. The amount of free resources online is enough to teach you how to do most everything yourself.

Something I struggled with before I started doing my own work was thinking it was more complicated than it really is. (With exceptions of course) Once I got over that mental block I attempted some complicated repairs on my M3 and it all went great. There's a great sense of accomplishment trouble shooting and fixing things on your own. Food for thought.

2013 35i, 240k kms. Runs great. Suspension is still 100% original. Had to replace turbo due to stuck wastegate. Just replaced valve cover due to leaky hard gasket. Water pump done once....counting the days. Other than that just routine maintenance. Never burned a drop of oil. All drivetrain fluids every 100k kms.
I'm considering weather to invest in replacing springs and shocks.

Question, I'll hit 100k in a month or so on my recently purchased F25 N55 but does the 100k service require anything major for the N55, like timing chain or is it mostly flushes, lubrication, filters, etc that I can do myself? I dont have the service manual that tells whats needed.

For anyone doing the timing chain job (we did on a 2015 28i Xdrive), either themselves or taking bits to an Indy - don’t use a non oem branded crankcase seal - we used a corteco (normally no prob) but it leaked after a couple weeks.

At 150K (km) only stabilizer links (on third set) are the non routine maint or non-preventative maint thing done. Grease-able links probably a better choice.

Are water pump and thermostat failures less common with LCI models? Thought I'd see it mentioned but no one yet. Maybe already replaced?

Was about to buy a '17 35i today but flaked because of reliability concerns. Want one of these so bad
