Creep corrossion at 20" 310M - and others?

This was discussed at X4 thread about a year ago - but then even more serious - bad corrossion already after 1 year - my rims are 30 month - no warranty left.

I was lucky that tyre hotel was charging me twice what I thought for storage. "Season" meant only 6 month!. Hence I have my 310:s in my heated garage - also luckily my bad rim was at top of stack - had not discovered it previously.

Creep corrosion comes from cracks in clear coat, where water can enter and corrode aluminium- especially polished aluminium.

As in most cases starts at center of rim. Mine is only 3 by 4 mm, which is why I had not previously noted it.

I showed the rim to dealer, who took pictures and today I got the message that I am welcome to have my rim exchanged.

Hi,

Have all your alloys started to corrode, or just a couple of them?

For me it is one only, and very little - after two years.

For others two, or more - I don't recollect anybody with all 4 - although some has got 4 new regardless - I only got the one.

Obviously one or more suppliers have a problem with the "difficult" area at center cap.

If early and two or more, you can expect all four on warranty - supplier is paying

I curious to see if all four would be replaced, or just the one's that has started to show signs of corrosion.

Considering that you would have thought they would have been made in batches, if one had started to go, the others would similarly followed at some point.

Cheers,

Andy

3 are pretty bad (finish peeling/bubbling etc) from the center out. The 4th one is not nearly as bad, but they're addressing nonetheless.
