Recent upgrades to my 2011 X3 35i M Sport

M40i muffler will not fit - you have to get new tubing from up front.

M40i exterior sound is depending on engine tuning, and interior is a recording of exterior sound being played through speakers.

My M Performance Klappenshalldämpfer - see and listen on X4 thread "Anyone installed......has two modes - flaps L/R - Sport/Track= legal/illegal.

Sport is nice - Track is nicer with pronounced growl

Beast! I think the only way to reproduce that with an X3 35i is to go with downpipe!

PIEZON, this is a long standing discussion on X4 thread: "Has anyone installed X4 35i M Performance Klappenshalldämpfer.....

I have put it on top of the X4 threads.

Sound from Klappen is a Russian car with tuning, but STD downpipe. STD muffler, Sport and Track sounds.

Dyno test with Track mode.

Enclosed is my Klappen.

Unfortunately all downpipes will mess with emission (inspection) unless you have a Flash tune that does CEL delete.
Otherwise I'm not worried, NJ inspection is not yearly

It's something everyone deals with in compensation of better sound and freeing up WHP/WTQ in the N54/N55 world heck even the B58 already seeing Huge Gains when changing DP

, a lot of us have a known shop that wont fail us due to just a downpipe. Others, remove it prior to inspection in some states that require yearly inspection. For those of us in non-yearly we're happy.

Why does a downpipe throw a CEL? Is this for catless or catted downpipes? I am looking at the ultimate racing catted downpipe. Wonder if it bolts up to the stock exhaust? I'm looking more at power than sound.

Sure! I purchased the SuperSprint system online at Turner Motorsport. Then had my local BMW dealer install.
