BMW made changes to PSdZData beginning with 54.2 and expanded upon them in 54.3, and expanded upon further in 55.0 / 55.1 where they removed descriptive text from CAFD (and FAFP) files, making FDL Coding of many ECU's impossible using regular PSdZData files.

Tks for the explanation. But if you mention "regular PSdZData files", can that mean that other type of files may exist now or in the near future that can be used for the same purpose?

Shawn, remembered another one: I read somewhere in this thread that it’s possible to code the function “move the car with the door open”, but I can’t find it in the cheat chart.
Do you know where is this?

So, if I reading this correctly the next time I get the X3 serviced, I won't be able to code anything if the software is updated... True?

Regular being the normal source for PSdZData, which is ISTA/P. It is conceivable though that BMW has a master set of Untrimmed PSdZData, so I leave open the possibility that FDL Coding is still possible, but even assuming they do, having that copy leaked out would be unlikely.

I am not aware of such code. I think it may be possible to Reverse with door open so long as Seatbelt is on and CAS = ER_KEYOUT_AUTOVR = aktiv is coded.

Yes, that is correct, at least not FDL Code anything. VO Coding is still possible.

For VO Coding you select the ECU itself, not the CAFD File.

VO = Vehicle Order

VO Code = Coding of all FDL's (100% of the ECU) to predetermined settings based on the Vehicle Order.

Connect => Read FA (VO) => Activate FA (VO) => Read SVT (VCM) => Right-Click on ECU (the ECU itself not the underlying CAFD) => Select CODE.

FDL = Function Data Line

FDL Code = Coding of individual FDL's in an ECU, overriding the VO Coding.

Connect => Read FA (VO) => Activate FA (VO) => Read SVT (VCM) => Right-Click on the ECU CAFD and select Read Coding Data => Expand the CAFD Folder by clicking + symbol => Right-Click on the CAFD file and select Edit => Edit CAFD as desired => Click the Blue Floppy Disc Icon to Save CAFD => Click the green back arrow icon => Right-Click on the CAFD file => Select FDL CODE.

Why would you ever want to when you can simply VO Code ECU with original FA to reset it?

Sorry again for this lack of attention, these terms are all too strange to me.
In spite I am now able to do some coding, the truth is I do it without understanding very well what I'm doing. Should learn more about it...

Tks again for your support

Was successful in coding numerous items. Everything works, car runs fine.

But I now have a check engine light on. I think it appeared after coding the kombi.

How would I go about clearing the check engine light?

You can try to clear it with E-Sys:
  1. Click "External Applications" in the left menu.
  2. Click "External Application"
  3. Double-click "Transmitter"
  4. Scroll to the bottom and click "14 FF FF FF,31 01 0F 06,31 01 40 00 00,31 01 40 00 05,31 01 40 00 01;Clear all DTCs (clear DTC,clear Infospeicher,ZFS – DM_Lock,clear ZFS – DM_Clear,ZFS – DM_Unlock)"
  5. Click Connect
  6. Click Send

You can VO Code it if you like, but you will need 55.x PSdZData, and if you use original FA, it will not change one thing.

Ok, tks.
I'll give it a try, more to learn about it than to code.

Exclamation Help requested please and thank you

First crack at trying this on my 2015 BMW x3.
I'm stuck on finding out what programming version lines up with my car I believe they are called psdzfiles. Any help or links via pm would be great as all I got is the e-sys software downloaded. also is there a cheat sheet for my car? Your help is greatly appreciated!
