Changed my order to M sport
Hi
I have just changed my order to a M sport model as it cost more or less the same as a SE with dynamic package, X-line( £0 cost for alu trim)etc. But the agonising wait will be longer still, hope its worth the extra wait. I have decided to go against the VDC as most review stressed that even with Sport + setting, the ride is still good. I am not keen on the heavier steering or increased throttle response as I have this on a mini auto which I never use. May need for th 30D as its a lot quicker and sportier. Not a humble 20d.IMO I think the M sport package is good value for money! Last edited by AC888; 01-28-2011 at 09:44 AM.. |

changing to M sport added a delay?
If you change minor build specs. it shouldn't, but adding the M package was considered too much of a change? I'm thinking about a 30d or 30d M Sport. Value wise, the M Sport is ok, if you want some of it's options. My main dilemma is, do I actually think it looks better.. I just posted similar thoughts on the '2011 X3 M-Sport Package Released - Info and Photos' thread. My concern is that the extra skirt, bumpers in body colour make it look taller/thinner. I quite like the look of the SE which I've seen a few of up close, problem is won't get a change to see the M Sport before deciding |

I would have ordered the M Sport if I was ordering now but waiting a year was not an option for me (when I ordered in October). Agree re. VDC, probably only worth it on the 30d but I still have seen no feedback on whether it makes a big difference driving over a bumpy road compared to an X3 with no VDC. Who knows. Probably not worth it just for that anyway.

Wow, its only $3200 more (US $ Conversion)
I was expecting a lot more than that. So $2,000 more than the sport activity package. I kind really see what it includes though (on UK site), I am guessing it does NOT include the Dynamic handling package, right? Would have been nice to include that at a discounted price. |

I've only seen proper pictures of the M Sport in white.
A couple photos of a vermillion red one, but nothing else. Here's configurator side/angle shots to compare: X3 xdrive30d SE X3 xdrive30d M Sport X3 xdrive30d SE X3 xdrive30d M Sport The M Sport with the coloured skirt, begins to look a little more like an enlarged estate/station wagon, rather than the 4x4 it is. |

Got the same problem as marmite. Help! The skirts certainly change the stance of the car. Does anyone have the time to do what marmite did with different colours? Suspect in titanium or White M might look better than grey / darker colours.

Loving the prefer the SE comments . In these shots, I'd have to agree, it just doesn't look good in grey in these pics, but I'm very biased of course! The X5 M Sport improves the X5 SE much more than X3 M Sport improves the X3 SE.
I do like the pictures of the X3 M Sport in Alpine White though. In AW, the M Sport wins

For comparisons sake here is white, which from these sots, looks the best M Sport colour IMO - but I would never choose white for UK - maybe if I lived in sunnier climes..
X3 SE here for comparison also, even though this IMO is the best M Sport colour - I'm not sure if SE still doesn't look better. X3 xdrive30d SE X3 xdrive30d M Sport X3 xdrive30d SE X3 xdrive30d M Sport

I'm a big fan of the white. If we'd had the M-sport package available when I needed to order, I think I would have chosen that. Without the M-sport, the Mineral Silver Metallic appealed to me more, though the white was also a contender.

Stick the 309 alloys on, privacy glass and the x line package and I think the se still wins. IMO the m sport looks like something from pimp my ride, for me it just doesn't mould in well. As I say that's my opinion!!!

The white looks good in M Sport trim even without the xenons …I do agree that the non M Sport looks as good. I especially like the front with the x-line trim.

Sadly except in White I feel SE looks better, which screws up my plan for an M! The M-type skirts on my car seem to pick up a lot of tar spots round my area, so the black also becomes more practical. Presume you cannot delete the body kit from the M sport option? Also Uk configurator yesterday said M comes with fun flats, another blow if true. Finally on the plus side, M extras will be factored into resale value where as the same bits will be worth much less on an SE come trade in. So? As I can't go White, looking like SE for me once I hear what the new Merc ML will offer.

The WHITE SE version would look better if the black claddings were painted white. tempted to do that for M sport has lowered suspension and I want full SUV ride height! I hope painting doesn't void the warranty.

You can delete the sports suspension on the M sport. Not sure if painting the cladding would look that great though

Completely agree that that the base version actually looks better, at least in these "shots". IMHO the M-version needs much larger wheels, to make it look symmetrical. Most likely minimum 19", preferrably 20". Also, to run an M-version, I'd like to have the 35i or 30d.
I think white standard trim, with 309:s and dark tinted windows will look awesome. Oh, that's what I ordered BTW... Karl |
