About to pull the trigger...
Hey everyone,
I'm about to pull the trigger on a CPO 2008 x3 3.0i and was wondering if there is anything in particular that I should look out for and also if there are any must haves that I should have? I come from a e46 and an e60 so I'm quite familiar with what is involved with owning a bmw just not that familiar with the ins and outs of a e83. I know of the AT shifting issue and this one seems to be fine, and also the lifter ticking issue which this one had but looking at the service records it seems to be dealt with. Is there anything else I should be concerned with? the car has the panoramic sun roof, manual leatherette seats, heating steering and front seats, xenon lights, tow package and bluetooth. Are there any other must haves in your opinion?

Is it generally recommended to go CPO rather then off a lot? I'm also looking for the wife, an 08 X3 and wondering if we will benefit from having a couple months of warranty remaining, followed by an additional 2 years CPO warranty?
I was in this exact same scenario when I bought my 06 330i, it's coming up on 2 years of ownership shortly and it's only needed oil changes and winter tire setups which I do myself. The warranty is peace of mind but haven't had to use it (not complaining :-) |

We purchased a '08 CPO with 24.5 K on the odometer.
Look at the transmission shifting issue and clicking when the engine is cold. Trans can be reprogrammed with good results. As for the clicking, first they replaced the lifters and then replaced the head. Lucky it was under warranty. We have the HIDs on our "M body" and they are nice. Prefere stand alone Nav. |

Thanks for confirming (and sorry for the hijack)
one more thing, i'm a fan of the X3 but whats with the black bumpers? I'm considering black as a colour so they don't stick out as much. |

Thanks guys, the one I'm getting has hid lights which I wanted and the ticking issue has already been dealt with (heads were replaced). I purposely didn't want sat nav as the x3 will mostly be a city car and it would be just one more thing that could go wrong.*
Also to answer the CPO question I purposely was only looking for CPO, this is my third BMW and I would recommend CPO everytime. *You are very lucky if u didn't have to use your warranty but some of the things are very expensive and I would not gamble without CPO.* I personally don't mind the black bottoms on the bumpers and side skirts, they are there for "off-roading" so u don't wreck the paint. Can anyone tell me what all should be in the trunk? *I have the spare tire kit but it looks like I'm missing stuff? What is everyone's opinion of leatherette?
