Wrong oil?

Hey guys!
So recently i left my car an oil change.
After i got my car i noticed that the mechanic used castrol Magnatec SS 5w30 A5, i research it and found out that this A5 oil is not for BMW... my question is - does this oil going to damage my engine or to leave it until my next oil change?

Take car back to your mechanic/shop and tell him to redo the job using appropriate oil that meets BMW specs, done.

Oil is the most important thing for the engine so i would switch it out ASAP for peace of mind.

With a Bulgarian location it might be a little more work to get BMW approved oil.

It is a good idea to ask about refilling it, but if you aren't able to get it done I truly don't think you have anything to be concerned about by the oil currently in the engine. Sometimes lack of manufacturer ratings is more about money and corporate relationships than it is about actual oil quality.

I agree, too many folks have an overly rigid black/white outlook on the BMW approved oils - double check with your mechanic, seems unlikely he would use a product that would in fact put engine in jeopardy.

(I've been driving Bimmers for 15 years and mostly use Castrol oils that meet latest API-American Petroleum Institute-specs; sometimes I use their Euro blends; never any motor wear issues; and I've had lab analysis done periodically)
