X3 F25 Brake Fluid Change
My other vehicles I just use a mini vac to flush fluid.
Can I do the same on my x3? I saw a video where a guy hooked up a compute and activated the ABS module with a program to flush. Is this necessary? |

With most any vehicle with ABS, it's best to put the ABS module in bleed mode to flush clean fluid through it. Is it absolutely necessary, no, it will just leave some old fluid in the ABS pump. You'll have at least flushed a good amount of the system.

I do not have the software or such to activate the ABS system so if i just flush the standard way, after i'm done should i engage the ABS's to pump that old fluid out and into the "entire" system so that fresh/clean fluid in in the ABS module and the dirty stuff can move to the brake lines?

The fluid really can't move very far since there's no where for it to go until the pads wear down and some fluid will start making its way down the lines. A $15 cable, laptop and ista/d software will do it and a lot more. Add e-sys software and you can do custom coding. The software is readily available by searching for it.

I just did mine with a vacuum bleeder with no problem. Did not do anything with the ABS. Just don’t run the reservoir down too far, it’s kinda hard to see the level when it gets low.
