No.

Connect => Read FA => Activate FA => Read SVT (VCM) => Read ECU Coding Data => Expand Folder => Right-Click CAFD File => Select New FDL => Navigate to C:\ESysData\CAF and select matching .NCD file => Left-Click on Inserted CAFD => Select FDL Code.

It is easier though to just VO Code the module to reset it:

Connect => Read FA => Activate FA => Read SVT (VCM) => Right-Click on ECU (the ECU itself not the underlying CAFD) => Select CODE.

But in C:\ESysData\CAF there would be file that was read from ECU earlier, not the file I backed up?

I know, but some changes I made manually, they are not included in VO.

Then select it from wherever your backed up .ncd file is located.

Yes, but they can be easily recoded.

Strangly, but option "New > FDL" is grayed out... FA is activated though...

While coding the VO FDL defaults I need to select, f.e. HU_CIC and right click on it and select "CODE" not the green marked CAFD?

BTW when I change the VO and do "Write FA FP" it automatically writes new VO to CAS and ZGW or I need manually "CODE" ZGW and CAS so that new VO list would be written to them?

You need to highlight the CAFD, not the ECU,

You can modify the VO and Save it, Activate it, and VO Code with it, without writing it to the car (CAS & ZGW), so write Write FA FP is not necessary.

When CAFD has green mark (e.g. the button "read coding data" was not pressed), then clicking right button and selecting NEW > FDL is possible. But if the CAFD has folder icon (e.g. the button "read coding data" was pressed), then the NEW>FDL is grayed out.

But if I want some options to survive future dealer's software update, then what should I do to write VO to CAS and ZGW?

Then it would be just Write FA FP to write VO to the car. I don't know though how ISTA/P would react though if the VO written was invalid in some way (e.g. Adding 6VC to a VO with a Production Date < 1010).

I dont want to brick any ECU, so please clear this thing... Do I really need to click "Read ECU Coding Data"? After that it is impossible to click "New > FDL"

Coding to leave instrument lights on with headlights off?

I like to have my instrument lights on all the time, but if my headlights are set to automatic and it is sunny out, they go off. Only if my headlights are set to on all the time do I get the instrument lights.

Any spot to code these lights to stay on?

Loving my coding changes!

Just wanted to give a shout out to April1 for all the good work in organizing everything, and thanks to all who are helping us newbies work this out.

I got all loaded and started making changes, all good. Have to say you really have to pay attention to every detail and comment in all the instructions and help.

After installing the software and reading the docs, and then re-installing and re-reading a couple of times, I finally got things straight.

Most things worked right away, and I was very pleasantly surprised to come out to my X3 next morning to find the other changes had taken effect as well.

Very cool! Thanks!!

47.4 is quite old. PM sent for 48.3.

Some problems with F25 coding items...

Software and cable work great (thanks April1), But I am having partial success on my coding changes. I've got a 2012 X2 with HUD and Msport and DHP and PDC.

Working:
Add power/torque meters
Add pressure and time temp reading
Disable all disclaimers
Unlock all doors when stopped...one pull open (most important of all)
Disable seat belt gongs...but the name is different for me in the ACMS/3000 Ausstattungsflags section.
Soft on welcome lights.
Turn signals in HUD
DVD in motion...This should be re-written to state that the setting is aktiv/Werte=ff
Close mirrors and windows with a touch to the handle lock...I made both changes, but nothing seems different. Have to wait?

Not working:
Radio menu in HUD ...again, no HUD_ENTERTAINMENT_ENABLE choice in 3000 HMI or anywhere I can find for F25.
Telephone info in HUD...again, no HUD_TELEFONANRUF_ENABLE in 3000 HMI or anywhere I can find for F25.
Sport-mode gear listing S1-S7

Still needed to find:
Instrument lights always on.
Auto wipers automatically on with startup

I managed to get the files (E-Sys 3.18.4 and PSdZData 48.3, apparently the last version of psdzdata that works with the available token). For s/w install, is it recommended to use the batch file provided on page one of this thread "Setup_3.18.4-47.4.v1.bat" or better to use the instructions contained within E-Sys files "E-Sys - Installation Instructions - v.2.txt". I'm not sure if the batch file needs to be used with psdzdata 47.4 (part of .bat filename hints at that) or whether it would work also with 48.3. I don't mind doing a manual installation, if the instructions are OK and it works. Any advice appreciated.

Actually, 48.2 is the last version that works on F20 / F30 without requiring an updated Patch / Token. For F25 and other chassis, 48.3 is fine.

Thanks for clarifying that! Looks like the installation .bat file provided by April1 won't work. At least, it seems folder checks in batch file would fail in my case because folder names do not match. Might be other issues as well. Any advice appreciated.

Yes. Use the detailed Installation Instructions that I wrote, included in the E-Sys 3.18.4 Package, and manually install and setup everything.

Original Post has been edited to take care of psdzdata 48.3

Note that an additional file Esys.Properties has been added for installer to automatically set the EST token to the correct path.

Enjoy.

restoring cafd files?

Ok so I was experimenting with changing the brightness of the front turn signals which I changed to leds. I set FRM | 3060 | FRA_V from (wert_03_13,5V; werte=87) to the 100% option. It made them flicker and didn't do anything else, stupid me. So oh well, I tried to set the code back to (wert_03_13,5V; werte=87) and it WAS NOT AN OPTION, the only option was (wert_05_13,5V; werte=87) and that option still flickers the sidemarker opposite to the activated turn signal!

How do I get back to wert_03_13,5V; werte=87?

OR How do I restore my last coding backup that I made with April1's Copy_CAF_v2?

Whichever one will do the trick of reverting this code.
Thanks a bunch!

If you want to push the saved cafd file to CIC, after selecting the green labeled cafd file, in place of reading the coding data, click on New and proceed to pick the corresponding saved cafd file and follow the remaing steps like activating FA.......

These steps have been discussed many times in this thread.

Success in the coding lies if you have patience and follow the steps correctly. It's good that you have saved your original cafd files.
