Advice needed - Extended warranty on an 05?
Good day, gentlemen:
I am, or soon will be, the owner of a BMW X3 2005 2.5i with a six-gear manual transmission. It has 115,000 km on the odometer and, just barely, qualifies for an extended warranty. The warranty would add major component and whatnot protection up to 200,000 km and / or another four years. The warranty adds $3100 to the sticker. I generally really take care of my possessions. I can live without the extended warranty but since I've never owned a car under warranty but since I'm being offered one I have provisionally said yes. Opinions? It'll be inspected by both CAA and a local BMW dealership prior to possession, and my car is taken care of by an actual BMW mechanic who never works on anything but BMWs. I know that this question is fundamentally one about risk tolerance. I'm very risk tolerant but what's derailing me is that I've never owned a car this new so I don't really know how to react. Andy |

would say take that risk if you have other spendings with that extra money.
It always is a risk but life is the biggest one... No risk, no fun.... |

Shop around for the warranty. I bought on on the wife's Volvo c70 hardtop convertible for around $2600. I think it was warrantydirect.com or something close to that.
