X3 xDrive18d?!

I just saw a first gen X3 accelerate from a junction and noted by the sound it was a 4cyl diesel so I jumped to the conclusion it was a 20d. I then noticed it said xDrive18d on the side and noted the lack of turbo whistle!! I didn't know they did a 18d. :S How mentally retarded can you get to put that engine in that heavy, AWD car?! I'm suprised it had the power to move at all. In a 1 Series (118d), that engine is acceptable and decent. In a 3 Series (318d), you really need to rethink and opt for the 20d. In an xDrive X3, thats just idiotic.

totaly agree on your comment,

What we need here? It seems that BMW is completely tripped in his premium green mania. A little EfficientDynamics posturing we find all fine, but a strong chokes 2.0 diesel block that only 143 horsepower in a car that weighs 1,700 + pounds. Where does that go? The "sprint" from 0 to 100 is therefore in a sad 10.3 seconds. But fortunately you get a CO2-emission of 165 g/km and a green energy label C return.
We are here really waiting for? Fine that we need to do a little close to, but this sort of crisis models get yet complete the fun from driving? Sure a brand such as BMW, I had not expected quickly.
it misses a lot of horses (standard 143hp).

I drive a 2.0 dieselengine with a powerbox (now 181hp) 0-60mph in 9.1 and an acceptable 7.5l/100km in normal drivingconditions.

must be a blackout period by the bmw engineers....

Exactly! Yeah the 20d is acceptable but the 18d in that car - silly.
