For Those Without Power Tailgate

Do you still have the power tailgate close button on your tailgate? It confuses the heck out of the valets that hit it and wait for it to close..

This is my FOB. I did not opt for the power tailgate feature. When you press the button, the tailgate pops open but does not lift. I Don't know what the FOB looks like with the power tailgate feature. Maybe someone can post a picture.

I think the original poster is referring to the button on the actual tailgate rather than the fob.

silverforumsurf - are you saying that you have a button on your tailgate even though you don't have the power tailgate? - weird.

The button on the tailgate is for locking the doors if you don't have power tailgate.....

There is a door lock button on the tailgate. Press it and when you pull the tailgate down shut, it locks all doors.

Doesn't anyone ever read the owner's manual?

IF you have a button, there are three different tailgate button configurations:

1. Manual Tailgate: A single button with a "lock" graphic image.
Pressing this button will lock the vehicle when the tailgate is manually closed.

2. Power Tailgate: A single button with an "open Tailgate graphic".
Pressing will operate the "power-close" cycle.

3. Power Tailgate with Comfort Access: Two Buttons providing both of the above functions.

I don't have power liftgate and no button at all on mine.

I also read that on the manual, and I wonder why for manual liftgate, there are cars with lock button and there are cars with no button.

Would be handy after you park, get out, open tailgate, get your stuff, press the lock button, shut it close, and just walk away.
(Though if I could, I really REALLY want that power liftgate option, I'm guessing retrofit would be costly)

Yeah. That was one option I wish I added. No extra button on mine though. Now, when I close the trunk of my e90, I have to be careful not to pull it too hard like I do the X3. I've slammed it pretty hard a few times, not realizing I was using the force I use for the full tailgate.
