online tracking accuracy?
Ordered a 35i M sport that went into production on Thursday. In the online tracker, All options and colors are correct except that aluminum satin roof rails are listed as an option and the rendering of the car also shows satin rails.
Is it possible that the online tracker is wrong at this point out should I be concerned that our CA accidentally screwed up? If the car arrives with satin rails, is it possible to have them replaced with the black ones? |

You might want to bring that up ASAP and look at the paper in writing you guys had discussed so that ur car would still arrive by the end of the month or 1st may.

I emailed him late Friday and have not heard back from him yet. Might have taken yesterday off. Of course bmwna offices are closed until tomorrow morning so I can't check that way either.

99% of the time the online tracker is incorrect on everything from colors to options. I'd bet money on your order being correct that your dealer put in. With that said, if it is on your order sheet from the dealer correctly, then your order from the factory will be correct. If you don't have a copy of your order sheet, call your dealer to get one and just double check it.

I agree 100%. The tracker is very rarely correct BUT it's still a scary thought. Even though I was told what was listed on my paperwork is what I'd be getting, I was apprehensive until I received delivery.
Bottom Line - Try not to stress about the tracker. I had incorrect color and options listed. The status even said "Waiting to Ship" when I got a call from my dealer saying he had it for me. |

Thanks for the replies. Heard back from my CA and he said he'll look into it tomorrow and figure out what the options are if it was indeed ordered incorrectly.
fwiw, we didn't order the car in person so I have not seen the order sheet yet. |

I'm sure he can just attach a pdf to an email but I haven't asked for it.
I have to think that this is a tracking software snafu. Seems he would have had to go out of his way in order to choose the satin rails option with the way our car is configured. Regardless, blue laws mean I wont know for certain until tomorrow. |

Incorrect roof rails were indeed ordered. They want us to have a fresh new car from the factory rather than resort to tearing out head liners etc, so we have a new production number for the first week in May. Couldn't be happier with the resolution given the circumstances.

Good catch, and good response from the dealer. It's great that this will be resolved in advance, rather than discovered at delivery.
There's nothing like a copy of the Order Acceptance to verify - early on - that a car was ordered correctly. |

Actually we did for our first order on March 23. The mistake was made when I asked to amend the order to a 35i from a 28i and we were given a different production slot as a result. apparently that option somehow carried over from the generic 35i build that was originally in that slot if I understand correctly. if the dealer has to eat the loss on the car then I feel slightly bad for them as it is oddly equipped. But kudos to them for making it right. |

Yes, changing from a 28i to a 35i means a change in production slot.
Don't feel too badly for the dealer. Look around the lot. You won't see many 2013 X3s. While many of us prefer to custom build our X3s exactly as we want them, others are just as happy to buy off the lot. There aren't many available on the lot to pick from. As to oddly equipped, it's all in the eye of the beholder. I'm quite happy with the satin roof rails that came with ZAP (Sports Activity Package) on my '11 X3. The dealer won't suffer much, if at all. |
