Difficult to know how much of this is actually true

Interesting, thanks, who knows... They never call me!

Gone code 1200, so no further delay as yet despite including a pile of options. 2 weeks til production. Crossing fingers as last minute delays are still happening!

The dealer finally replied to my emails this morning, apparently my build is still showing as week 25 (2 weeks time) with delivery expected week 31

I haven't changed the spec, so can only assume the issues with bluetooth parts have been resolved.

Has anyone actually been told that their car has been built??

I remain on track for a build around the same time. Whilst there is (as always) no concrete information there seems to be a suggestion that shortages have now been overcome in some way. That said, there are still dealers and third parties telling customers that they will get their cars then telling them otherwise. I think until you have a Vin number you need to be very questioning of your supplier and until the car is at your house in pristine condition the wait continues.

Good luck chaps. Not much longer to wait now. Do you both have to take delivery as soon as it arrives? 8 weeks would be the start of August but any slight delay could push towards the end of August and then you have to consider the new 61 registration which starts 1 September. Worth negotiating in advance.

Already gone for Sept collection due to these timings. Adds up to £1000 to resale value I was told. Also gives dealer more prep time should anything cone up.

Same here. My expected release was end Sept now the beginning. In fact I've served 4 of the 7 month sentence, 3 to go before my garage gets a new inmate.

I'm hoping to take delivery early August, it will be registered on my 1976 number plate (that came off my very first car!), so I'm not bothered by the new registration.

I take your point about future trade in value, but as the Mercedes I'm trading in is probably losing £ 400 a month, it won't make much difference in the end!

Also trading a Merc and typically monthly loss about £250 for mine. Also putting a private plate on!

My Car is in the UK waiting transportation to the dealer. This is likely to be next week, the dealer wants the car a few days to make sure everything is in order and the chrome Grilles and pipe can be fitted. Still looks like I'm getting the car ahead of schedule.

Had a call from my dealer. She's arrived on schedule. Seems that there is no issue anymore with 6nh!

After many emails, mostly complaining about lack of information, now have a early August delivery. Emailed BMW customer services with this reply -

Dear Mr Wilson

Thank you for your email dated June 8, 2011.

Firstly, I would like to congratulate you on the order of your new BMW X3, I trust that you will enjoy many years of motoring with our company. On another note, I am sorry that you are unhappy with the delivery times for the vehicle, I can understand your disappointment. Unfortunately, due to the world wide demand for this vehicle the current lead times are 10 months, which can alter depending on the optional extras included.

I am unable to give an estimated date for arrival, however, the information you have been provided does seem accurate. I would like to take this opportunity to assure you that the production unit in America are doing all they can to manufacture these vehicles to a high quality and as promptly as possible.

I am sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you, however, I trust the new BMW X3 will be worth the wait. If I can be of additional assistance in the future, please feel free to contact me.

Yours sincerely

Interesting that quite a few of us are now expecting our cars to be delivered (well to the dealers at least) at the same time (1st week of August, week 31).

Makes me think that the factory is probably going to produce a 'batch' of RHD cars (which will only be a very small % of total production) during week 25...

All our cars will be made at the same time?

Just had a call from the dealer, apparently my car has been built today and I have the VIN number sounds like production is back on track.

Just have to wait and see if the W&W online tracking works in a day or two?...

Not been able to find mine on a ship yet although it left the factory 2 weeks ago. Advice from Sfax is if after 4 weeks you can't find it it is probably being delivered by stealth helicopter or something. Not all cars are visible on ships but will keep looking.

Was never able to track mine, I was still trying when I had a phone call from dealer saying the car had arrived.
