my options:
heated seating

towbar
darker rear windows

One thing I regret not have added as an option are the Xenons but it was either the Xenons or the towbar to stay within budget so went for the towbar

Hi MCoen.

The X3 is only in 4X4!. The X1 has the possiblilty to have 4x4 OR 2x4.
Also the X3 engines start with the 20d, not the 18d.
So I'm abit confused

Thanks Sfax,

When I ordered my X3 here in Belgium this was not an option!
That was only in September 2012 - 3 months ago!
So I stand corrected.
BMW Belgium have therefore added this to there line-up recently

I have ordered mine beginning of September. I originally was going for the Audi Q5 front wheel but liked the X3 more. I searched the website to see if BMW planned a similar and stumbled on the X3 sDrive18d being announced end of year 2012. So I asked the garage and they said it was possible to order it. It was not on the BMW website yet but the dealer could configer it . So that's what I did. Car is waiting for me for more than a month now but my current contract runs out January 21st so still need to wait a good month before gettgin the car

+1

Must have for us was Electric seats
Auto gearbox

But not
Xenons...pretty but £1000 for headlights!

As for the Nav - I use an external one which is a lot cheaper and will be easier to update over time.

You don't have to go back too far to a time when BMW still had cassette players as standard when everyone else had had CD players as standard for years.

They don't give much away. Other things that should be standard IMO are: dimming mirrors, folding mirrors, split folding rear seats, bluetooth/phone prep

For me, I always see the interior more often than exterior. So, I will choose the iDrive which is very useful not only for navigation purpose.

Without any doubt: the 8-speed automatic transmission (it is my first automatic)

My must-have would be Top View cameras (with folding mirrors). But I live on a narrow street and parking is extremely difficult at times.

Hi MCoen,

I am very happy with my X3 20d. Had it since mid Nov.

I know you will also enjoy your car when you get it. Just a little bit longer, hang on it's worth it

Must haves for me were Xeons, sport seats, electric seats (wife is on the short side ) I-drive, Navigation, shaded rear windows, automatic gear box.

BTW, I have assumed that the car comes with bluetooth handsfreee even if you don't take any extra (multimedia, 'enhanced' BT etc)... Am I wrong? Should I start to panic call the dealers ? :-)

You at least need Bluetooth (£265) unless you have a multimedia package - at least that's what it used to be - not sure if they've changed the standard spec

Well I asked the seller, and he told me what I'll have would be equivalent to the Parrot I have in my scenic -- ie pairing, voice commands etc etc so I'm happy, I don't need a lot more than that :-)

The model I ordered also will have 'free' DAB radio, as it becomes standard next year on UK models, it appears. Not that I want/need DAB but I supposed it'll still do normal FM!

... can't believe I still have 10 weeks to wait! :/

I would check with someone else and show them your spec to be on the safe side. I know about DAB becoming standard but voice control is only on the more expensive BT option so I'd be surprised if this is now standard. Dealers talk a lot of sh!t so always worth checking what they tell you

I've had my X3 35i for about 17 months and every time I hit the SPORT and SPORT+ button I am SO glad I got this option. It really transforms the car and when looking at the whole price of the car it's not much at all.

I do realize that you have to stop somewhere for most of us, but I wanted to ride comfort when in normal mode and even in sport+ its not harsh at all and New England roads are not all that great.

I also love the top down view for parking. it simply eliminates curb rash forever if used correctly.

heated seats, heated steering wheel are great too.

i listen to lots of music so the upgraded stereo which is good - not great and the sirius radio were musts.

I ordered but do not use the BMW APPS - 6NR - at all. maybe someday but not now.

Again, the Dyn Damper Control is my number one favorite option. It really does make the x3 into two cars or 1.5 cars in my opinion.
