MSport Rims

Anyone know the price in Canada of a replacement 19" MSport rim, the wife curbed the front passenger side after only 2.5 weeks and rubbed half of the rim badly. I would rather replace than fix.

Gather you don't have wheel and tire insurance?

What does the dealer say for price, as I doubt any aftermarket suppliers will have the 369M alloy wheels yet?

just talked to the dealer they want $850 for the rim, I don't have the insurance as I've never curbed a rim or had any issues with rims before but the wife on the other hand has a knack for tire damage.

Sounds like you need to replace the wife!

That would cost a lot more than a new rim by a long shot, driving school would be cheaper.

BMW wheel insurance does not cover cosmetic damage only damage due road hazards.

I've had good success with wheel repairs. Usually around $150 per rim. I would give it a try before buying a new rim. You could always sell it after the repair if you're not happy with it.

I've used http://www.wheel-tech.com/ in the past and have been happy with their work. Probably doesn't work with the cost of shipping.

Good luck.

Not true in Canada. We're allowed 2 incidents from curb scraping per insurance contract, maximum of one per year.

Tire replacements don't follow any particular schedule, but are limited to $6K total.

Let's just say that I read the policy carefully since I'm intending to let my wife drive my new X3

For the amount they quoted for a new one I would definitely get it fixed instead. I have on my 135 and it was done so well you couldn't tell which was fixed.

I don't think this is true either here in the US. Other than cosmetic damage I can't really think of that many situations where someone will damage their wheel. It has happened to me when I was younger when I drove on a flat for about 10-20 miles and ended up damaging the wheel but I doubt most people will do this especially if you own the car and not lease it.

I just replaced a 20" wheel on my XFR and the cost for that was $900.

I checked the cost to repair is $250 and will take up to 2 weeks as they have to use a water based paint and it takes much longer to harden before they can apply the clear coat.

BMW wheel/tire insurance only covers replacement of rims that will not hold air. I just confirmed with the finance manager at my dealer where I bought the insurance contract.

Yes, but think of the "IOU's" that you have just acquired!

Your wife and my wife must be distant relatives She has totaled two rims and three tires on her mini s in the last year. Tire and wheel insurance is a wonderful thing if you live in the land of the pothole.
