Tailgate open all doors?

I seem to have this come up with my wife all the time. I go to the tailgate, open it up keylessly... start stowing my gear and whatnot, and she sits there, somewhat impatiently waiting for me to open the passenger door. Is there a way to have all the doors open when you open the tailgate?

Option 2, I'll just give her the key and she can come open the tailgate for me!

I'm listening for other options as well... thanks all!

Isn't that what the other button on the lift gate does? Or does it lock the doors? X3 is only 2 days old...still a lot to learn.

Just hit the "open door" on the remote?

Shouldn't she be able to open the door while you are loading the tailgate? It doesn't know which of you have the key in their pocket.

But it does seem to know when you are at the back of the car as opposed to beside it. My son can't open the door when I'm at the tailgate. Only when I reach the rear quarter panel can he open the door (without me grabbing the remote).

If you hold the tailgate's latch for more than a couple of seconds, do all the doors open?

To add to what Bluedevils said, there are multiple comfort access antennae mounted around the car. Based on what I see on realoem.com there are 6 internal antennae (2x on each side of the car, 2x near the driver's side A pillar) and 1 external antenna for the tailgate.

I have not found a way to open the tailgate and have those that are waiting to get the vehicle be able to open their doors either. Kinda defeats the purpose of keyless entry, but now I always get out the key fob and unlock the doors and release the trunk with the remote. Sucks to have a nice feature that really only works well for the person carrying the fob.

have you told them to pull on the handle TWICE? [pull twice, not told them twice]

They have and it hasn't worked yet. Matter a fact because they are kids, they've pulled multiple times waiting for the doors to unlock while I'm around back loading things up. I'll test it one more time for good measure next time I'm out and about.

Press tailgate button (on the tailgate) twice...

I haven't tried pressing the tailgate button (the one actually on the tailgate) twice to see if it opens up all the doors. That's worth a shot. Seems like there should be a setting that says, "Tailgate open (all doors, tailgate only), just like it does for opening the driver door (one door, all doors - or something like that).

Yes, I could press the button on the remote, but it kind of defeats the purpose of keyless entry (which I am growing quite fond of).

Like I said, option 2 is to just give my wife the keyfob and let her come and open the tailgate for me and then she can go to the passenger side and open all the doors from there. Problem solved (sort of).

Exactly... that's effectively what I do now, however, it's usually after I see her standing at the door... opps.
