Exclamation Official: BMW X4 (F26) SAV Coming to Market

COMMENTS

The long rumored BMW X4 SAV is coming! In an interview with Auto Motor und Sport, BMW CEO Norbert Reithofer confirmed the plans for BMW's newest SAV.

The X4 will be positioned above, but based on the X3. It will be 4.65 meters long (183 inches), which is the same length as the X3, and will share the F25 X3's range of engines. But due to its coupe-like styling, the X4 will have less trunk volume - approximately 500 liters less, or 17.6 cu ft.

Among other technologies, the X4 will feature AWD x-drive, automatic start-stop, head-up display, and voice control.

* The X4 images used in this article are renders only and not based off any spy photo or other confirmed image/info.

I love the X6's lines and sporty handling but it was slightly to large and about 15k too much for me. If they can make this 41k base sign me up!

its pretty - so is the X6. I would still choose an X3 over an X4 but thats preference.

right now the X6 is the only ride in that SAV/Coupe class that has good looks and isn't a total eyesore (like the Acura ZDX and Honda accord Crosstour)

does it come in deep sea blue?

So who's this for? Although based on the X3, will the X4 be an alternative to those who don't want the mammoth X6 like the X3 is sort of an alternative to the X5?

Nice going! X6 is super nice but too large. There'll definitely be buyers for this one.

just like a lot of BMWs, its for a very niche market. My wife for one! She loves the X6, but its too big, heavy, and expensive! now an X4 for around $55K loaded and she would be all over it. should still have enough trunk space for general usage, how many people constantly fill the X3 or X5 trunk to the brim anyway?

BUT this does beg the question, why the 3/4 series GT if you are going to have an X4? and what will be the price point, right in between the X3 and X5 which is pretty close already?

Guess BMW wants the strategy of capturing every segment and every $ they can, have $59K to spend, well a fully loaded X3 35i is ~$55K, and a X5 35i is ~$62K (with same options) so lets make a X4 to fit in there

i'm still waiting for my 3 door SUV/SAV cabrio diesel M with Sdrive
it might sound far fetched now
but judging by the amount of models BMW is releasing, and how no stone is left unturned
it might not be impossible

weight and price, it should be $10K+ less than the X6 and weigh 1,200 pounds less. This thing will drive more like a sport wagon than a tank (X6).

Same reason why you bought a Cabrio instead of a Saloon or Coupe,... because it's what you wanted to do.. ?
