Playing CD-Rs
I have a load of CD-Rs I want to use in my car. The CD drive will sometimes read them and display all the tracks. If I take the CD-R out and put it back it then won't work, the display says "no disc" and other CD-Rs struggle to work, success maybe 1 in 10 attempts.
CDs are fine so I expect it's the reflectivity of the Verbatim discs I use - normally they are pretty good. Has anyone had success with another brand or similar issues?

Definitely they are CD-R, I've just tried a Sony CD-R, this reads fine but it's a CD image (wav), not MP3 which the Verbatim disk are. The issue could be a problem reading MP3s, I'll play around with some burning options.

I'm doing much better with UDF format instead of ISO + Joliet. The tagging doesn't show up as well but the disk reads fine.
Edit: I'm probably the only person here without USB audio......in case this helps someone...strangely ISO + Joliet format now works so I have better tagging (Artist and Album show up). I suspect the drive needed more physical actuations from new to work properly, or maybe it won't work on the move. Either way it seems like the problem was/is a physical one.

It was working fine a couple of hours ago but now fails on ISO + Joliet format but is ok on UDF so it's have trouble reading some formats from time to time. As it's not a hard fault it must be a mechanical problem with the CD drive. I just know I'm going to have fun at the dealer.....

I find it better to write all disks at a slower burn rate, no more than 2x even if the disc supports more, then it has better success in reading them.
