Unbelievable, just picked up my X3 last weekend, prepped by myself (Zaino) and on the road.

Words can't explain... amazing!

You bet, be happy to describe the process. After speaking with Sal directly at Zaino, he said to follow this process (especially for Carbon Metallic Black):

1) wash with Dawn
2) check for paint imperfections and clay if necessary (I did)
3) wash with Z-7
4) Apply Z-AIO (all in one - particularly for Carbon Black)
5) Apply Z-6 Gloss Enhancement
6) Finally, Apply Z-5 Car Polish

hope this help (and consistent with all the great threads on washing and waxing/ sealing)

Sweet ride. I'm waiting for mine. What options/interior color did you get?

My package was as follows; Carbon Black Metallic, Oyster Interior, M-Sport and DHP. I passed on the navigation. Included extended maintenance and Tire/ Wheel protection (due to the numerous potholes in the NE)

The wash/ clay/ sealant and Polish process took me ~ 8 hours over 2 days (a little longer because of low temps - high 40s/ low 50s)

Thanks for all the kind complements...

I am of the understanding that one should wait for two months before going for sealing as paint should be cured fully.

Secondaly, why didnt you finish with Z-CS as the last sealing coat and a finishing coat of Z-6 then?

I just followed the instructions from Sal - Zaino Products.... that's why I used the process outlined above.

Regarding when to seal, there are numerous threads on this topic, i.e., when to seal a newly painted vehicle. The overwhelming consensus is that BMW water soluble paint is not overly dense/ hard and that the manufacturing process adequately dries and sets the paint... so prep immediately is fine

You may be right but my understanding is that CS or Z8 are the sealants.

Did you mask any parts during the process?

I actually did not need to mask anything. No residue problems with the Zaino products I used.

Going foward, I'll probably wash every week or so (depending on weather conditions) and dry using my micro waffle fiber and then finish off with light spritze of Z-6 with Zaino polishing towels.
