Electromechanical handbrake
Anybody tried to activate while driving? I did (at low speed)..
What if the passenger tries at 100kph.. I kind of wonder if this is intentional from BMW? Regards |

From the manual it says "If the vehicle is braked to a speed of approx. 2 mph/3km/h, the parking brake remains set."
However, I feel like I've accidentally set off the parking brake somewhere between 5-10 mph before and it still engaged. I don't think it's possible to engaged it at 100 kph since I would think there's sometime of safeguard but tbh I'm not sure. The electromechanical handbrake is one of my least favorite features with the X3 and I prefer a mechanical handbrake or footbrake since it's really easy to forget pulling the switch in an X3. |

I love the bimmerpost & xbimmers community, there a lot of active posters and helpful community as for the time that it took me to post a response 2 ppl have already done so.
Nice find on that thread Sfax; Looking back we need to find some type of question to stump Lotus (if at all possible) because as of late there haven't been many technical questions that can't be easily answered with searching old threads or looking through the manual, I miss Lotus' easy to understand and well thought-out responses. |

I think he's in rehab after burning out answering so many technical questions with such mind-boggling detail. It would take its toll on any man

Due to a similar but not as dramatic experience this is why I set my parking brake even on flat ground. While there are many things I rather change about my X3 things such as the e-brake I hope BMW would change in the future. While it's "modern" to have a electronic brake most people are not use to a electronic brake that you push a pull a button for. |

Nope, still here. (2) posts in the last 24 hours. Generally don't respond to threads that have been developed before. Also busy preparing the "fun" cars for their winter storage. I just love to change oil, filters, coolant, bleed the brakes (4 bleed ports per caliper), put Sta-Bil in the gas, and put the covers on. it's depressing
