New to BMW, Alpine White '17 s28i
Fiance just recently purchased a CPO X3, Alpine White with navigation, black nappa leather and sunroof. Very happy with the car and how it drives. She had to have it in white. I think its the best color from BMW.Suprisingly quick for what it is evn with the smaller displacement engine. Our only gripe is halogen headlights and no backup camera. Backup camera can be installed later, but halogen headlights may have to learn to deal with them. Any tips or advice for new BMW owners? Thanks!

Hi McNuggetz, try replacing with led bulb. Others have done this and very satisfied. I have a 3rd car with halogen and terrible lumination at night. The best led bulb I found that has both hi/lo beams and DOT compliant is Hikari LEDs, found at Amazon. Got the 12000 lumens, newest version, using Philips led technology. Great cutoff and doesn't blind oncoming cars. Works great in halogen housing w/o any issues.

Output is about 6K, so very white. I installed these in a non bmw so I'm not familiar with install on bmw. My bimmers have Hid and led oem bulbs.
I would assume to remove cover and insert the same as replacing a halogen bulb. Read the owners manual. You will need to twist off the metal base (normally has 3 tabs) from the led bulb socket. Insert the metal base into the housing and re-clip to hold metal base in place. You then insert the led bulb socket and twist to lock in place to the led metal base. Do not insert the entire led bulb with metal base into halogen housing because it will not hold and become loose. Just separate bulb socket and metal base before installing. There should be youtube videos on how to install led headlight bulbs. Don't have pics, but you will be happy with light output vs halogen. |
