My car was built August last year, so can only assume that all MSport's are the same.

I consider myself anal about my cars, but it's not something I've noticed before now. I suppose if I've gone this long without noticing, it's not something that I'm going to let bother me.
It will bother you now someone has pointed it out!

Thanks for checking. If that's how it's meant to be I'm fine but I do think it would be better if it was shiny on all pillars, like it was on my E83 X3

They must (?) have a reason for the change :-/

Too true. I was getting something from the car at lunch time and couldn't help noticing that a colleagues Volvo XC60 had high gloss on all pillars. Slightly annoyed at BMW's attempt to save a few euros/dollars.

Thanks very much skibuddy!

Regarding the stainless steel accelerator pedal, my dealer has informed me that although it is shown on the BMW website car configurator and also in the resultant PDF, it is not standard UK spec. Judging by other M Sport photos on here, it seems it may be standard for US spec cars.

My US-spec X3 Jan-2013 build MSport does not have it.

Looks like he was wrong then. It's probably a tactic to entice buyers with the promise of a shiny pedal

Do BMW sell it as an accessory?

I didn't check accessories. One downside of the aluminum pedal (even with little rubber accents) is that it is very slippery when wet, as I experienced in a previous car.
