Is Dr.ColorChip any good?

Hello!

I have found a few scrapes on the boot of my BMW X3 in mineral silver. And i would like to know if i could use Dr.colorchip to repair them. The scrapes are around 1 cm long (0.4 inch) and you can see the metal. Has anyone here used Dr.colorchip and did it do the trick?

Thanks!

Dr color chip works well with small chips and scratches IME,

The only downside is that, people will notice the chip if their eye is literally 5-6 inches away from it

From afar, they won't know the difference!

yes agreed. if you are patient and apply as directed, it does a reasonably good job at hiding small chips. At normal viewing distances, they wont really be noticeable.

It is ok for a quick fix and will look better, basically they just provide a solution that you put on a cloth and it helps remove the excess paint to flatten it to the surface, so looks better than a blob of paint, but is not as good as water sanding and buffing the excess paint off (but that is much more work). The only thing I have ever found that looks almost perfect is someone skilled with an airbrush, especially with metallic paint as it has to be sprayed for the metallic to really match well - on non metallic paint, you can do a pretty good job, but metallics are very difficult to get a good match.

Definitely put something on it to help protect it if the scratches are that deep though!
