My new 2012 X3 is almost here an my sales guy is starting to push Auto Armor, a paint finish and interior protection treatment that comes with a 7 year warranty.

My instinct is that this is a waste, but I thought I'd check and see if anyone has experience with this and recommends it?

I am in Wisconsin where the winters mean road salt and the like, if that makes a difference.

Waste. Mainly a significant source of profit to the dealer/salesman.
Find a quality wax/sealant and you will be fine. Heck you would probably be fine for 7 years washing with dawn.
Of course, YMMV and opinions are like certain body parts.

install 3m clear bra then just maintain the car with regular washing and cleaning. The other stuff is a waste.
