She's here
After 7 months of waiting my 3.0d SE has arrived today.
I am very pleased so far. Engine and ride are quiet and no immediate problems although the SatNav was confused by its 120 mile journey on a trailer from dealer to my house. People seem to like to see specs so here goes: Mineral Silver Oyster with silver trim (I know some will not like this, but I have had 3 Volvos and I like the Scandinavian look but the real aluminium in the last Volvo did not wear well - I just don't like wood in cars either) XLine Access Package Visibility Package Electric Seats Top and rear view Variable Dampers and Performance Control Sports seats and steering wheel Towbar - electric retractable Sun protection glass Extended Storage 308 18" wheels Professional Multimedia (and no I don't have 6NR - so more shaking of heads about the decision too!) Business Speaker package Plus - BMW roof bars and iPhone 4 cradle I will post some pictures soon. But it is freezing outside and the light is going. Looking forward to the weekend. |

I'd love to hear your impressions of the 3.0d (powertrain). Rumours are that diesels are coming to NA in 2012 and a diesel is what I'd like to purchase.

Second to the gearbox is the internal soundproofing - the X3 seems to be very good - comparable with a MB E280 that I drove about 5 years ago. Thirdly, external sound, my wife used to say she could hear my Volvo D5 taxi from 200yds away. Not any more. It is not a petrol but it is not unpleasant. In the UK diesels make great sense for company cars because they are taxed on the basis of the list price and the CO2 emissions. Diesel fuel in the UK has about a 7% premium over petrol (currently about £1.40 per litre). |
