X83 lamp out indicator

Have a 07 X3, dash lamp is on showing a lamp out. No lamps out. Anyone know how to get the dash light out? Thanks much

This is most likely one or both of the Adaptive Brake Lights. They only come on during a very forceful (emergency) brake maneuver, so you really can't check the functionality like any other bulb. This happened to my old e83 quite a few. The lights are located in the tailgate and you have to remove the big plastic trim panel to access them. It's quite a pain to put back in place because the plastic clips are hard to line up right and have a tendency to get smooshed and mangled. So make sure you have plenty of them on hand when you do this.
