CD Player & Video - Australian X3

Hi all,

I have the standard audio system and I am just wondering
  1. Can it play DVDs?
  2. Is the player region locked?
  3. Can it play burnt CDs/DVDs?
  4. What format does it support?

I tried playing some of the CDs that works fine on my previous car but not on the X3. I called the BMW service center and they mentioned that I can only play Australian CDs which sounds weird to me...

My next question is, if I connect an IPod that has some music videos, can the video be displayed on the X3 screen?

Thanks!

[*]Can it play DVDs? - yes if you have a DVD player (pro nav only)
[*]Is the player region locked? - not sure
[*]Can it play burnt CDs/DVDs? - yes, depending on format
[*]What format does it support? - the list of supported formats is in the manual or search file format here

My next question is, if I connect an IPod that has some music videos, can the video be displayed on the X3 screen?
- you can do this with option 6NR BMW Apps and an iPhone. Not sure on iPod

I am guessing you have to pay for the 6NR option? Hopefully they have an app for Android soon..

Yes, it costs extra and you also need pro nav, a media snap-in adaptor (for it to work when in a cradle, otherwise USB only) and the 6NF USB telephone preparation option. If you don't have these options, I doubt you'll ever be able get media like videos on iDrive with any phone

If Region Codes are enabled then the OP might only be able to play DVDs with a Region 4 code, but that should have no impact whatsoever on playing CDs.
