iDrive has silent start-up mechanism, loads in the background as soon as you unlock the door, it helps the Back-up cam and PDC activate within seconds.

Not like other MMI systems which starts to load only after ignition on...

Also radio station presets scans automatically in the background when you travel different places...which is pretty cool (never seen in my previous cars). You don't have to worry about manual tuning..

I don't have mine yet (boo-hoo me haha), but wondering if the Nav guidance (arrows etc..) now shows up in the center screen between speedo and tach in addition to iDrive screen but without HUD? That would be a nice suprise!

Wow, Great tip.

I wonder if other multimedia can be displayed, i.e. DVD movies

Your wish is granted... the nav arrows can be displayed in the speedo/tach cluster.

When you stomp on the pedal, and push past that little extra click when it's floored and your head snaps back because it gives you everything it's got. It's quickly reminds you this isn't your ordinary SUV and puts a smile on your face.

So far I have not been able to play movies off the HDD. The music is windows media lossless. The trade off is, no cover art. At least it would take more effort than I'm willing to spend.

I was under the impression that the normal audio system played DVD-A discs. It does not. The only formats it plays are MP3, WMA,AAC, M4A.
It says in the manual that it plays DVD audio (video part only). What does that mean?
It did play a DVD movie in DTS 5.1 sound. Before I knew this, I tried hi rez 24/96 WAV files but it did not play them.

When you prolong the lockbutton push on the remote, the side mirrors folds in...
They fold out when you open the car with remote.. They don't foldout automatically if you have used the button on the inside of the door to fold in the mirrors and later unlock by remote..

Does taking delivery count?

... Of course I wouldn't know what that feels like yet!

But with regards to the mirrors, it's a shame they don't fold on regular lock but require you to hold the lock button down. Surely it makes sense to fold away the mirrors on lock? Also a useful indication that your car is locked from a distance.

Is this true? I will check it today itself. Will the same happen if I keep my thumb on the handle for prolong duration (I have comfort access.)?

As for a surprise feature, sirius satellite radio rewind and previous track capability.

Have to base my nice surprises on the test drive, so here we go:

Thickness of the M Sport wheel
The sat nav directions appearing in the box between speedo & rev counter
Auto hold function

I bought a lot of stuff without seeing it for sure but forums like this are really good to figure out if you really want something from people who have it...plus there are the pics probably the reason why I added the M-Sport package and picked the black sapphire

There are indeed guidance arrows in between the speedo and tach. Another very cool feature with nav is that when you're driving on the freeway and it's telling you to get off of an exit you can set it so it'll show you a drawing of the exit sign with actual info on them.

Would love to see a pic of the hole for the fuel cap.

Possible delivery middle of next week, that would make less than 5 weeks since ordered from Anchorage Alaska. Can that be possible?

Unfortunately, I think you have to be in split screen mode for that to happen. I would have preferred that to happen in full screen mode whereby the screen will automatically switch to splt screen when coming to an exit (my other non- bmw autos do this) and then return to full screen.

I wish to see Date/ Time and Outside temperature all the time on the meter console but unfortunately when Navigation starts these values get hidden. I noticed in one of the 2013 models, Date/ Time and temp are placed on the sides of the console so even if the Nav starts to show arrows in the middle, they remain intact.
