I totally agree with your statement Tjalle. American buyers are better served as they have the tools to track their car during the production process. That is not the case for us Europeans customers

Sank_CH you are far more a specialist in this..... what do you think?.
No the date of born of your car is showed when you type your VIN code on bmwarchiv.de . It display the date when your car was born. By what i now understand code 165 for us europeans means: the car has left the factory plant and is between Spartanburg and bremerhaven.

The vessel Independence II has reached today his waiting area in North Sea near Bremerhaven. Lets see tomorrow when I will meet my dealer if the code has changed. Tomorrow will also be my last drive with my X3 35i m I will miss this great car

I got the code 165 from my dealer, with my VIN code. Then I looked onto bmarchiv to get the details. Says production date 19.08.2014

Code 165 seems to mean: transfer to Bremerhaven.

So I guess it will ship out with the next boat to Europe. Not it will be just waiting, waiting, waiting.....

I don't understand the "being lucky" part. If you order a car, you get it, be it that you have no visibility and have to wait long....

Here it is The Indenpendence II in Bremerhaven. The white and blue vessel in the background. it arrived yesterday evening.

In front of it already two trains loaded. the second train shows that it is already loaded with Xs cars.

Not dark enough :-)

By the way, have my driver's manual now online via my VIN code on blw.be. However I don't see a possibility to download the pdf...

Jypsie but you might be right

Anyway my dear dealer checked the production status of my car this afternoon and the code changed to 182 : dance:

Once again i needed to Google a bit to find the information that suited the best my wishes (remember internet is not the bible), and on a german Mini Forum I found those answers:
165 Werksausgang und Transit f. Z3 von USA nach Bremerhaven. Werksausgang und Transit MINI von Oxford nach Zeebrugge
168 Werkslager (Bremerhaven/Zeebrugge)
182 Übergabe an Spedition/Fahrzeug ist in Ladung
190 Fahrzeug hat Spedition verlassen
191 Wareneingang

For those non german speaking:
165 means that the car left the production plant of Spartanburg and is in Transit between Spartanburg and Bremerhaven or another port. There it is important to understand that it doesn't mean that the car is already on the vessel. the car might be on the train to the port, at the port waiting for the vessel or on the vessel.
168 warehouse Bremerhaven or Zeebrugge
182 car shipped from BLG Bremerhaven or Zeebrugge
190 car left shipping company
191 car enters Dealership.

So right now my car might be on a train like that in direction of South Germany. At that point, I don't know if the X4 will travel by train until Switzerland or is then loaded on a truck somewhere in Germany to Switzerland.

So in the worst case it leave today Charleston port on the Vessel TORONTO and arrives in Bremerhaven on September 15th, in the best case it is already on a vessel in transit to Europe.

Sank_CH,

Even better! Had a look thanks to your indication:
"
Go on the following link WW (the vessel company) and Under Cargo ID put your complete car id (the one with the 17 digits):
https://offices.2wglobal.com/offices...uickSearchPage"

and entered my 17 digit car ID nr, and guess what?

It will arrive in Zeebrugge on the 12th!!!!

Not even 100km of where I live.... I hope customs and paperwork and delivery to the dealership will be done swiftly after.....

SANK CH: Did you say that there are no direct vessels to Switzerland? How come?

You could fill the vessels with watches and cucko clocks going back

You are very lucky Jypsie, because the vessel company use only one VIN code per shipment. It means if there is like 200 X4 on the vessel, only one VIN Code will be used to track the 200 X4 on the vessel (from what I understood)! My VIN code never appeared on the tracking system of W&W.

Hi Tjalle, euuuuuu maritime route from Bremerhaven to Switzerland not sure there is one. Probably the unique one could be the Rhein that leads to Basel. But now checking online it leads to La Haye, so it is definitely not so. I did not understood very well the TXL routes map. They mention "maritime" where it seems it should be rail routes. But here a German expert could answer better than me to that question.

No Problem I can start to ship you by vessels the watches. Which brands do you wish to receive?
cucko clocks... the one with the little bird going in and out of the house each hours. The one that make an astonishing noise at 3:00 am once you finally find a way to sleep? the one that before the last "Cou-Cou" at 3:00:59 am you shoot it with your gun to have finally a quiet night?

Hi Jypsie track the vessel on www.sailwx.info there you will find your car

So code 193 means arrived at port..... then there still codes 194 then 195 then 196.
My dealer said that it means the car is in Munich. Waiting for a truck to bring the car directly to the dealer. He said maybe if i m lucky i m might have it before next thursday as next thursday is a day off in the area where i m. But i told him that i was travelling to Italy for business on Tuesday and remaing there until Friday. So if he can't deliver it within Tuesday evening, the delivery will take place the next Monday.

Found the vessel again last night!

This time on www.vesselfinder.com

I am catching up with you Sank_CH

Unfortunately, as I understand, the boat first goes to Bremerhaven , only then she returns to Zeebrugge, where my car will leave the boat on the 12th.

I then hope my car is in my hands the week after

Zeebrugge to the dealership is not even 100km, so I assume the cars go of the boat and to the dealership. Then my ETA should be 16 sept.....vs 30 oct when I ordered. I can not complain!

This means 2 months order to receiving it. Worst case 2,5 months.....

Jypsie: Beware - there normally is a PDI (pre delivery inspection) at the port - then transport. Each step could mean one or two days standing in line.

That is why I feel we in Europe are dealing with a roulette-type of distribution system

Tsjalle

Yes, I can understand that, but even then it will be "only" x days later and still be less then 2,5 months and way earlier that I was even hoping for .....

I have HK & HUD on one car and I miss it on the one that lacks both.
I like music from CD's and HK is great. HUD with 8th(speed limit info) allows you to convert from km to miles on the HUD only, useful when driving in US. HUD is reduced with polarized sunglasses but is say 40% visible.

As no car arrived this morning by truck at the dealer, I won't be able to take it tomorrow. So we fixed an appointment with the dealer next Monday morning, and I will pick up my car at that time. pfffff it will be a very very long week to wait.
