How Can I Set a Destination's House Number?

For the first time today I tried to enter a destination address. I pretty easily found the screen for doing that: the left side of the screen said "House number" and the right side of the screen said "Please enter a house number". Great! BUT HOW? I tried voice input but it thought I was entering a radio station!

Just say " drive to 123 main st yourtown" thats it no need to type anything

you might need to change to numbers on the dial input. it's one of the options near the backspace button. changes the dial input to numbers and symbols.

I think I was confused by this too. if the problem is the same.

Yes, I've done that and it usually works fine. But I was trying to enter a destination I use from time to time but can never recall it's address. So I was trying to enter it manually thinking that I could then give it a name for future use. I suppose that there is some way to give a name to a destination you've spoken but I have not come across how to do that.

I looked and looked at that dial input mechanism but didn't see anything that indicated, to me, numbers and symbols. I'll take another look.

If you mean the touch screen, I expected an image of a keyboard to be displayed on which I could touch keys to enter the address but there wasn't one.

You have to click the iDrive dial to get to the input screen.

No, the iDrive controller itself got a touch screen surface you can use to draw letters and numbers with, when at an input field.
I find it easier than rolling around and selecting with the wheel, or using the on-screen keyboard and the touch screen available from the G series vehicles.

But you still need to click the controller before you can draw on it or select by rotation.

I believe you need to enter the street and other details before you can enter a house number. It will only let you enter in valid house numbers, so it needs the street, city, etc. first IIRC.

Just to be clear, they're talking about the iDrive controller touchpad, and not the touchscreen. The round top of the round iDrive controller knob is a touchpad.

Has that started working again in Canada?

It hasn't worked for several months in the US, and other Canadians reported that it wasn't working, either (this was a month or two back, though).

Before, "send to car" would just silently not work. Now, google's throwing an error saying that they can't communicate with BMW.

try using the connected app on your cell phone or ipad you can enter a destination then when you start your car a screen pops up saying destination entered and what do you want to do, you can save it or enter, also I believe you can once you have entered the address save the destination in one of the memory keys.

Yes, I know I can use the BMW connected app to send addresses to the car. However, BMW only gives you a 1-year subscription to that, and I don't feel like paying just for this one feature (the package has other features, but this is the only one that I might use).

I'll just send addresses to my phone, and then use voice command to speak the address to the car.

First you have to enter the street, then the house number. You can also re-login through the app on your phone, you probably have some kind of glitch in your system, at least that should help. Of course there`s a fee for this function, but if I were you, I`d pay for it if your system keeps crashing. I see that your post was published a long time ago, but perhaps the answer will still be relevant. By the way, if you're interested in home products, particularly house signs, I suggest house number signs. I bought my house sign there and liked the quality.

I enter address into CONTACTs. Then select contact in Navigation, works 95%.
