So .. It appears my car is due to be built in Feb 2015 and I should have it in March 2015

Taking almost as long to arrive as my son did !

It's worth the wait.

The wheels situation is a bit of a strange one though isn't it. Hope they've not found a fault with them?!

Wow -- I'm shocked by the lead times for an X3 being delivered outside of the US. I ordered one for my wife on 9 October that was customized (order sheet has our name on it, and a few non-typical options) and we received a call from the dealership yesterday that the X3 has arrived... TWO weeks from order through production to delivery in southern New York state.

My 2014 5-series took only 5 weeks to be built in Germany and shipped to the US for delivery in 2013.

Guessing there must be a delay in some part or feature for non-US produced vehicles (?)

I think the reason is two fold

1. Quota's ... Each country gets an allocation of the global production capacity.

2. Cultural .. In the US there is a culture of getting things instantly, customers want/ expect to walk into a dealer and walk out the same day with their new car or very soon ... So dealers forward order for stock .. And that demand is better matched to supply

Oh yes ... And the Brits invented queuing !

I doubt it, the wait is torture already I'm hoping it comes a little earlier in January to be honest. If the delivery slips into February I'll push to march 1st

Not forgetting that UK cars have the driver sat on the right side of the vehicle - not sure how that affects the build schedule.

I think maybe having the steering wheel on the correct side must confuse the delivery drivers and cause the delivery delays !!

Surprised we haven't seen more pictures of LCI's from the UK yet. It must be getting ripe for a few to come through. Can't wait to see mine really ready for it now...

I really do hope it has a steering wheel!

Yes it will, except it will be one from a boat .. Bmw can't supply the xline sports steering wheel so will substitute on your behalf

First post from me so a bit late to the table on this one but if it helps re lead times:

Ordered 16th May 2014 from Cooper Teesside, collected on 26th Sept 2014 so just over 4-months (they said possibly a bit longer now for new orders). Wait was long enough especially as I'd ended the contract on my previous car (Jag XF) in April.

Didn't go for much in the way of extras, spec is:

2.0d SE Auto in Mineral Silver / Oyster Nevada Leather
Professional Media
Sport Steering Wheel
Run-flat tyres
Sports seats with lumbar support
Service pack

Was a bit unsure of colour choice (not really inspired by any of the choices on the current X3 to be honest) but 'in the flesh' it works well so quite happy. Very happy with the car, only minor disappoint at the moment is fuel consumption seems a bit on the heavy side but hopefully this will improve (only 1000 miles on the clock to date).

I'll forgive you as you are new but come on photos please :-)

Congrats on the ride and seems you got a good delivery time I ordered just before you and still a few weeks away... I will be interested to see what I get consumption wise as on my Volvo V60 I only get high 30's which is really disappointing..

That's my local dealer but I'm not buying from there as it happens. As it also happens on my dog walk I've seen a mineral silver car that sounds similar to yours, but your showing as north yorks so can't be yours.

Happy to oblige - few photos below.

Forgot to mention previously that on the downside, I wasn't impressed just one-month in and 1000 miles on the clock to get a warning message yesterday to the effect that all lights (brakes, dipped, indicators) had failed - and the wipers self-activated and wouldn't turn off. Managed to get home okay as it all cleared with a switch-off and re-start and after 4 stop-start journeys around town today no such problems. But going to ring Coopers and get it checked.

Get it checked but I wouldn't worry, sometimes the computer needs a reboot. I was on the ferry across Lake Windermere, all sorts of dire warnings came up. I just re-started the car and all was ok. This has been the only occurrence in 3 years.

Lovely pics ... Love the sunset one.

What are you getting fuel economy wise, as you say it is disappointing ?
