I'm about to order, and I don't know what I should be asking for to get full functionality of the new BMW Apps. Do I need 6NR, 6NF, ZOX, BMW Apps, what???

BTW, other options:

x35
Black Metallic
Black Leatherette (I've got two young ones)
Alum trim
Prem Pkg
Sport Pkg
Tech Pkg
Roof Rails

You need 6NR, 6NF, pro nav (not sure what the number is), BMW assist and a snap-in media adaptor for your iPhone (iPhone 4 media adaptor still not available but should become available next month)

See here for more details

Good luck with your order...you won't be dissappointed!!!
Go for the Leather seats. I have 3 little ones of my own and with all the saftey seats and booster chairs and crumbs and such, I would worry about how leatherette would hold up. To install these correctly, you really have to compress them into the seat well. Even with the pad under it, it will leave marks over time. Maybe someone could chime in that has experience with bmw leatherette and child seats. I've read mixed reviews with them and saftey seats.

The leatherette actually holds up better than the leather over time. The Sensatech is extremely durable and stain resistant.

I rec the leather too. I have 2 little ones and the leather holds up very well. (Had it on my 8 year old 3 series too and that leather looked fabulous despite my 2 kids and 1 dog!)
Better for resale value.
Also, with such an $$$$ car, better to go premium and get the leather.
Good luck!

Since premium package includes leather, is it even possible to opt for leatherette since some people were having trouble with getting the X line delete that comes with sport package.

It was with my '09 328i. I even got a discount on the Premium Package.

I'm one of those rare people who can't stand the smell of leather.

It is in Canada. Leather is a standalone option that doesn't come with any of the packages (Premium or otherwise). It's $1800 additional.

Leather is very hard wearing and would be my choice every single time (no personal experience of leathertte).

Cant imagine spending all that money and not having leather

yeah if you are already spending this much, leatherette will just feel cheap in a nice car, go with leather. As others have said, re-sale will take a huge hit without it as well. not too many people want a used X3 without leather...

You guys are probably right. Now that I can't get the regular sport pkg, I have some extra $ to spend on other things. Maybe leather is a good idea.

What goes well with sapphire black?

I am getting oyster with a 6 month old and 2.5 year old. Back of seats is black plastic and you should have mats under car seats... I worry more about my wife spilling.

yep agree with mako--i have a 3 month old and 4 yr old and have oyster. it is beautiful. would be very sharp with black exterior. remember, oyster has black on back of seats and floors/steering wheel--all the areas that might get dirty. if you're really concerned about the kids, throw one of those carseat covers over the backseat. no one will really see it since windows in back are tinted.
good luck!!!

Leather is a must in a car like that.

I really wanted oyster, because I think it looks fantastic with black, blue or even better carbon black. But after seeing two showroom cars and my loaner with oyster i decided against it. And while you can clean it and work with it every week, over time the stitching will get dirty and difficult to keep fresh and clean.

With a new born on the way, and not enough times on my hands I decided against oyster. But I agree, it does look fantastic!

Go for black Nevada. I love it. Good thing with black is it makes the car look more uniform, whereas when we go for other colors we have some black and some custom color which I don't like it (with the exception of beige)

GO for the Oyster!!! Almost any of the leather options (imo) will look great in a black X3. I am not happy with how the sand leather looks in general…I like the leather but it seems to be the only leather option that lightens the entire interior of the cabin in a similar sand/beige color. Can someone confirm this? Pictures would be great! I like how the leather is broken up in the door panels, black at the dash and keeps the interior of the cabin dark.
