Article today in the Wall Street Journal concerning production slow down in Europe and North American due to Hitachi airflow sensors. The plant was damage in the earthquake. So far BMW not mentioned in the article. Companies effect include GM, Toyota, Peugeot/Citroen. Hitachi also makes parts for Ford, Nissan , Renault, and VW. May see quake related shotages of silicon wafers, lcd display screens, chips, high strength steel and chemicals that would effect automotive industry.

Its all individual's perspective on the situation. Agreed on waiting for the official word from BMW

Not sure if the problems in Japan are to blame, but just heard that my car which was due for delivery on 30/03/11 has been put back to the second week in May.

I'd anticipate a delay based on the disaster in Japan. Hope it won't be too bad for all.

If it was scheduled for delivery 30/03 it would have gone into production on about 20 Feb so very unlikely that Japan was the cause. More likely your dealer bullsh!tting when you ordered.

Production in April with delivery in late April or early May.
My dealership didn't mention to me anything about the delay recently, and they gave me April 11 as the production date of my X3.....
