Voice Activation Standard?

I saw on andy's 28i steering wheel picks the voice activation button. I thought you need to get the nav or tech package to have this? Did this change?

OK, so apparently it ISN'T standard. Which is total BS since it comes with bluetooth and the freakin' button.
I was told by my CA that it was standard, and was really pissed to find that it wasn't. Just one more reason that I'm upset with BMW and their information void. The website is useless for details on packages, and 9/10 CAs have no idea what they're talking about.

A light on the dash comes on that says, "sucka!"

hahahaha. I thought I was getting another feature I didn't think I originally got, like when I found out the push start was standard. 2 for 2 would be too lucky...

No your just lucky...and 2 for 2. I had NO idea I would have Bluetooth standard without the Tech package but you do...I can make calls and whatnot over the cars speakers via the Bluetooth.

I think you miss understood what I meant. I knew that the car comes with Bluetooth. What I thought it might come with is voice activation, where you can give commands such as "call Stan" or "play CD" by pressing the button on the steering which has a picture of a head and sound waves coming from it's mouth. From Mav's explanation, that button does nothing when pressed (unless you have the tech package?). No one really knows, which seems to be a theme with BMW's standard and optional features.

Only 9/10? Surely 95/100 at least

You could write a book on the complete nonsense they come out with and technology seems to be their worst subject. The car has a SIM in it? Really? I didn't know that.

It's a shame that voice activation isn't standard, I mean they wouldn't even have to add any extra hardware since there's already a button for it and perhaps a built in microphone. BMW could have made an extra couple dollars but it seems they took the route of all or nothing with including it in the tech package.

There are a lot of things that you don't get if you opt out for the nav. Wish I had known that when I placed my order. My CA is going to get a phone call later this week.

I know. This is crazy. I just found out I won't have a USB port/inlets inside the glove box since I don't have tech/nav options.

Another thing is that I don't even have a button to open my trunk/tailgate if I am inside my car. I even have it in my civic

I think BMW site has to be more clear on their website on what does come and what does not so that we can make a better informed decision

It wouldn't be so bad if the CAs knew what they were talking about. But, alas, they're clueless.
