Flashing.

Shawn, thanks for the link and the almost instantaneous reply.
This controller unit is just a few days old will flashing invalidate the warranty?

I need to do some reading.

Many thanks

I don't see why it would unless you brick it during flash, then maybe you have problem.

Any ENET Cable off eBay should be fine.

Great... Thank you for the quick reply

I'm not due to get my X3 from the factory until late next month, but am already aware that there I will need to do some coding for some basic stuff.

I'm just trying to prepare myself before hand so I'll be ready when it comes.

Seems there are a lot of SME's. Glad I found this site. You guys rock

Well I don't think I bricked it but it will not flash.

I followed the instructions word for word on the third attempt. First 2 attempts I missed loading the SVT_soll.

The TRSVC had a ZGW dependancy. I selected check boxes for both units but initially got the FA Null error. Thinking that it needed the gateway flashing first I disabled the TRSVC checkboxes. The ZGW seemed to complete even without the SVT_soll.

I closed everything down but then got worried as there were lots of failures showing on the instrument cluster. Ignition off and on a couple of times seemed to clear all the errors.

Third attempt started afresh and noticed the SVT_soll this time but the ZGW did not show up in the TAL ECU so I assumed as it was flashed it was no longer needed. I tried the TRSVC but the FA null error still shows.

I spotted a few posts with this error but they do not seem to apply in my case. I am learning but obviously not fast enough

Use the Read VIN out of FA button in TAL instead of manually entering VIN.

Thanks Shawn.
I am using that button. It jumps to the other check box after pressing the button. The xxxxx is added to the picture only;-)

I also found your helpful post "basic steps" which I tried by connecting with VIN rather than URL same result.

My apologies Shawn I misunderstood the FA read Vin. I looked again and can see what you mean now. It is also processing as I type so hopefully my next post may be more interesting

Yes, success. Flashed and coded.
Thank you for you help and patience Shawn.
It may be a little while before I get brave enough to play again

Ron

after few days had time to go back to this again.
Finally found defective contact pin in TOEHKI wiring. So now everything is working, and my mission "power tail gate retrofit" is 100% successful.
Thanks so much to Shawn for his support and I will try to make some review or procedure of this, if anybody will be interested about.
Once again, I mus say many thanks for help to my BMW dealer guys, Shawn and generally this forum. Thank you, Tony

Have been messing around with our Indian X3. Let me know if you need any help. Sport automatic is what you should enable first.

Hi,

I'm jumping in because I just bought an ethernet - usb dongle (something like this http://www.ubergizmo.com/2007/04/d-l...e100-goes-usb/ ).
Does anyone have experience connecting it to the F25 CIC?
Could you please help? I'd like to ftp to the CIC and getting FSC to update the maps...
If anyone has a better idea please let me know!
Ciao,

a.

Hi I use Anker Unibody Aluminum USB 3.0 to RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter which you can find on Amazon for about 20 bucks. I assume any Ethernet adapter will work just fine

Great!
How do you connect to the CIC? I cannot ping it..
are you using any specific static IP for the laptop and the CIC?

So this is from the first page...

Connect E-Sys to your Car:

Connect ENET cable between car's OBD port and network port of laptop.
Switch on the ignition of the car, don't start the engine.
You will notice laptop tries to connect to the car. Wait a few minutes until the network icon on laptop shows a Connection with the yellow exclamation point over it. If you don’t see the network icon due to your laptop settings, wait for a minute.
Start your E-Sys on your laptop.
Press connect button on top row of E-Sys to connect car with the laptop.
It opens up a dialog box.
Select the correct TargetSelector for your model of the car, e.g. F025 and not F025_DIRECT for X3 model.
Select "Connection via VIN" and press Connect.
Wait for the Connection message. Click OK. If the connection was established successfully you see the selected target in the status bar at the bottom.

Make sure you wait for that yellow exclamation before you open up E-Sys and make the "Connection via VIN"

He is talking about something entirely different. He is not using the USB / LAN Adapter to make connection from PC to OBD. He is talking about connecting the USB / LAN Adapter to CIC USB Port, and making Telnet / FTP Connection directly to Head Unit.

Hi Shawn can you help.
Just installed on Windows 8.1 laptop and get a message to say I have java 1.8 and it needs
java 1.7. I installed 1.7 and it runs but java keeps wanting to update to 1.8.
E-Sys 3.26.1
Searched for later version but this is latest I could find, is there one or am I just being dumb?
Thanks
