Question Partition Net in Canadian 35i?

Is the cargo area partition net available for Canadian X3's? I've read on another thread that they are only standard on U.S. vehicles but want to confirm.

I hope that this is not ANOTHER item that BMW Canada has denied us despite the fact that we pay about $8000 more than our American neighbors!

I have discovered that we also don't qualify for production timelines or videos, adaptive headlights, headlamp washers, or rear seat heating! Who else needs the latter 2 items more than those of us living in the North!

Sorry for the rant...I had to vent. I would love to have the partition net to help keep my dog safe, secure, and stop him from drooling on my Oyster leather! Our vehicle is apparently in production now...2 more weeks to go! Thanks in advance!

The luggage compartment separating net is a £125 option in the UK.
It is part of your boot roller cover.

I can tell you first hand that the partition net is NOT available as a Cdn. option. We were disappointed that our dealer did not know this. They took our order with the promse that we could order the net partition as an option after the fact. When we got the vehicle it did not have any preparation in the roof liner for the netting system. In the end they did not know their product & we had to settle for less. It's one of the "pet peeves" I have with BMW North American vehicles.

thats interesting. The X1 had slots above the rear seatbacks so you could install them.

our national health care sucks balls.

if you're talking about the net that clips on to the headliner to separate the cargo area from the back side, no we cannot get it in Canada. I was so pumped after seeing the video about it on the BMW USA website, and was disappointed we couldn't get it. Even if you tried to get the "roller with net" ($600 or something) part from ebay.com instead of just the "roller" one that we have, the car does not physically have the clips to hook on to on the headliner.

Absolutely baffles me why they would eliminate that option for y'all. Sorry to hear it. Other vehicles in Canada have similar options? Or is there some vehicle safety reg that prevents it?

I think there is a way (not an easy one) to get it.

(1) When you order your car you opt for a special order for the back seats choosing the 40:20:40 setup rather than the standard 60:40 like we have in Canada.

(2) you order the 600$ kit online and I guess it should fit.

This is my assumption. I'll get my car in sept. I validate once I get it.

Mine has a net wrapped up in the storage compartment (along with the storage divider thingy). I haven't opened either one but is that the net you are talking about? Or is a cargo-floor net included? Mine is pretty much loaded except for head up display. I'm in Canada.

I would think the clips / socket for the headliner could be purchased. All X3 frames would potentially be the same, so clips could be fitted. There is only two types of head lining, look here http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...55&hg=51&fg=40.
Both show slots for the clips for the net.
No headliner without the slots.
Here is a link showing the roller/net. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...03&hg=51&fg=60

Here is a link showing the clips you would need. I suspect the fixing points are already there on the roof shell.http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...56&hg=51&fg=40

Try giving your dealer the part numbers for estimate of cost.

Thanks for everyone's replies! There doesn't seem to be a net available on either BMW US/Canada accessories websites. The aftermarket sites show the parts but are very confusing and we are not keen on drilling through the headliner!

We found this pet barrier on Weathertech's website. It is easy to install, well-priced, and has great reviews. We have already bought the Weathertech front and rear floor mats; they look great!

Our X3 should arrive this week so we want to be ready! We haven't told our 10 year old small munsterlander dog that he will be caged in yet; I hope he understands!
