Do you guys think the BMW dealer would change these settings if you tell them exactly what settings you want changed when the car is in for service? Is that wishful thinking?

They couldn't even if they wanted to. E-Sys is factory floor software. The dealer has only ISTA/P, which can not do FDL coding. ISTA/P programs entires ECU's based on the Vehicle Order, and nothing more.

To get M-HUD functionality, you need the M-Instrument Cluster. As I said, the HUD and KOMBI are interwoven.

Sadly, it is wishful thinking. BMW AG (the mother ship) and BMW NA (US and Canada) have jointly decided, for various reasons, what features to enable or disable in the NA market.

Yes, many of those features may be modified by coding, but your BMW dealer isn't going to do it for you, and, based on Shawn Sheridan's post, can't. What BMW AG and BMW NA have ordained cannot and will not be changed by your dealer.

Yeah that's what I figured. Wishful thinking. I'd really like to figure out how to display the boost PSI somewhere, like the cheesy HP/TQ gauges.

Displaying boost would be pretty cool gadge. I now kinda wish I went with the tech package for the bigger screen and the fancier BC but o Well. I still love my SAV

It's not present. I also have the M package. It's different on an actual M car.

An actual M-HUD (M6/M6) has the Tach in it, and I am not sure what else.

Just coded the HUD to display the Voice Commands. Now when you press the voice command button, the HUD displays "Say a Command", then when you say a command it displays the command. It's also in the KOMBI/3000 menu. I didn't write down the line, but it's the right below the telephone options. Says HUD_Sxxx. I looked up the word in German and it mean voice commands.

The FDL Code is HUD_SPRACHEINGABE_ENABLE.

Thanks. Do you have a document with a complete breakdown of all the FDLs?

I created and maintain the F10 Cheat Sheet. Version 3 is released, but Version 4 I have not released yet, which includes the new HUD functionality that came with 47.x firmware.

Yeah, I've been using a combination of the F25, F10, and F30 cheat sheets, and a little exploring.

Anyone have a screenshot of "temp and pressure to TPMS screen"? Perhaps a stupid question, why can't the dealer make some of these changes if the capability to display such parameters is clearly there? I can understand video in motion being an issue where that's illegal but having actual pressure displayed for TPMS sounds like a great idea.

For $25-$80 and about an hour of research you can get the cable and software to do it yourself.

If you're referring to my post directly above, about "temp and pressure to TPMS screen", I would rather do it in a supported way. Some posts suggest problems with some file versions and it's not clear to me what might happen if the dealer does a software update, as they might do periodically. I'd still like to see a screenshot if anyone has one before deciding whether to do anything or not.

No problem at all so long as you have the latest coding files for your car, and if you don't, it still really isn't a problem except you might not be able to code something until you get them. And if the Dealer programs your car, all you do is recode it when you get it back.

Very excited by this coding thing actually, I'm quite an software/electronics tinkerer, so being able to plug an ethernet cable and hack around in the car is pretty cool!

I saw a few mentions of the "F25 cheat sheet" but no links (unless I missed the obvious??) anyone care to repost it ?
