I saw a couple of new RRS down to low £50k, I got a finance quote on one, after 3 years they were still valued at £35k so would have been £525 a month, now that seemed like a much better buy. But I still have a hankering for a 2011 FFRR, think they look great, luxurious but purposeful. |

Our 2.0d has done 31000miles over 3 years and 38.9mpg. Mostly longer runs at 70-80 so well pleased with that. Have had over 45mpg but that is sat at 60/65mph for an hour.

Is that actual, or from the on board computer? I expected the 2.0d to achieve a higher average figure, say 42 to 44 mpg!

In my opinion, the fuel consumption is rather unimportant with such low mileage. 38,9 mpg or 30 mpg.... who cares.

I have just returned from a 700 mile weeks holiday in South Wales and averaged 42.9mpg. It is very rare that I achieve anything less than 40mpg. Shocked myself once getting 54.1mpg on a 120 mile round trip albeit I drove like Miss Daisy.
A colleague at work is getting the a Discovery Sport so will be interesting to compare. I still don't like the look of them, saw on on holiday in a carpark and that back end looked hideous

30mpg = £34 week. 40mpg = £45 week. In a car that is loosing around £350-600 (age) a month does an extra £10 a week really matter? Our 20d xDrive is returning just over 41mpg average, that is calculated, the OBC was showing just under 43mpg. I keep meaning to calibrate it to get it more accurate, but approx. 1.5 mpg out is not bad. Mine has a CRD-T+ box on it, and since fitting that the mpg has slowly got better, it was sitting at just under 40mpg average, but it is creeping up. The last tank saw 590 miles, and I only got 62 litres in so 44mpg average (obc showed 45.something). I will be honest and say, although the X3 is a very nice car, I don't feel any love for it, I thought it may be the 2 litre diesel, so I managed to borrow a 30d xDrive Sport the other day, and the MPG was quite a bit behind, just nipping around where I would see 39mpg in the 20d easily it was showing 33, and on a long run it was showing 38mpg where I would be getting 47+ easily. It was however, on 19" 275 tyres, which probably gobbled up to 10% economy wise. I have a set of 19" M-Sport wheels sat at home, I will try them and see how much difference it makes on the X3. I haven't put them on yet as I think I may be selling my X3 on. But know if I do I will probably regret it as soon as it has gone , hence why it is still here at the moment. I can't think of a single thing it does wrong*, in fact it does everything brilliantly, but just got no enthusiasm for it all, it was the same with our F11 5 series, did everything so well, but never excited, so sold it and bought an E350 estate, and knew straight away I should have kept the 5 series. *Actually, the bolster has a stupid arch in it which digs into my arse when my wallet is in my pocket. I am in Spain at the moment and using a 1.25 Fiesta, and the petrol engine in that is a joy. So refined and even sounds nice when you get it to 6000rpm. Makes me think a small 1.4tfsi A3 Sportback may be a nice car to have for nipping around in and then buy a Range Rover or Disco 4. |

I am still torn on the looks . I think it is overpriced for what it is
But there seem to far more of them around where I live than X3s Mine is upto 4000m now and on a run I'm getting about 40 mph although it has done a lot of town Driving lately which has pulled it down to about 33 Off to the west of Ireland in it in a couple of weeks so will be interested to see how that pans out I'm hoping it is going to get more economical as it loosens up

My wife then decided to stay a little longer and get a lift home with her parents, I headed back, pulled into the services at the bottom of the M11 and realised I had not got my wallet. OBC was showing 78 miles remaining and I had 90 miles left. I reset the computers and sat playing the hypermiling game all the way home and that saw 54mpg myself. I wasn't going silly slow either, just in the sweet spot at around 65mph. These cars are capable of some incredible MPG figures considering their size, shape, auto gearbox and the fact they are AWD too. |

I too test drove the Discovery Sport and it was a total let down. I honestly thought that it might be my next car... but nooooo.... it felt partly japanese (the cheap plastic all over) and the dials for speedo and revs, uh... I can't believe how my 3 and a half years old X3 felt so much robust and more luxorious than the Discovery Sport. As well as the detail in design and finish was from another planet. Do they make Discovery Sports in the UK maybe...? |

Hey? Is that meant to mean everything made in the UK is a bit....well....pants? The Disco Sport is meant to be pretty ultilitarian, it is the new Freelander. However, after the interior on the Evoque it just feels too low rent for the price point, if it was still available from £24k it would be more acceptable, but at close to £40k for an OK spec. it is over priced. |

When we went on holiday, pulling our 1300kg caravan to Slovenia, driving 100 KM/H, it was using 11,5 liter / 100 km. Now I wanted to convert it to MPG, but it seems that in the UK and in the US they use different kind of MPG ! Is this true? http://www.convertworld.com/en/fuel-...er+gallon.html

Oh, and the Disco Sport is made in Liverpool, UK.
The factory was probably sent hi end plastics but the staff no doubt sold it out the back door and used melted dustbins to make the interior instead. No offense to any bin dippers, I mean scousers, on here. |

That's funny didn't realize it's built in UK, the Rav and CRV have nicer materials, that's doesn't say much but shame on Land Rover sorry I mean TATA!

Funny thing is, i definitely don't drive it lightly most of the time. My 'metric' is a trip to wales too (Maidenhead->Rhayader, via glouscester) of 3 hours, and I never do less than 46mpg, even if I do the motorway part at 85mph!

Yup...agree. We paid £1.139 for diesel the other day, so I expect others are seeing it cheaper. I am happy with my recent average over 8k miles. It is giving 38 mpg with fuelly and 41 mpg on board figure.
