Anyone put 20" rims on their X3?
I recently made the decision to put 18" winter tires on my rims that came with my X3. With that in mind, I'm shopping for some 20" wheels in the summer.
I'm currently looking at BMW's 20" for the X3 and they charge a staggering $5500 . Anyone with any pictures feel free to post! |

There is a 20" set for sale in the classifieds for a great price (3,300 ish??). You may want to check them out.

You can definitely run 20" rims. You want to make sure that you're paying attention to how much they weigh though. The X3 will drive way differently if you run say a 30+ pound wheel vs. a 25 pound wheel.
AC Schnitzer is SUPER expensive too. I looked into the cast Type VIII and they're $3,300! (yes, I said cast - not the forged). Breyton's are a great brand and not too heavy or pricey. Advan has a few options that are a little more pricey, but they're light and well made. Forgestar is another alternative for a decent price with good quality and lighter weight. Definitely getting 19" for my wifes X3. She HATES the stock 17"

So will the existing range of wheels for E9x fit on F25? Is the centerbore the same?.. I am really confused about the centerbore thing I only know it's different from X5/X6. |

The mounting surface offset (ET) is important and changes with the width of the wheel. X3s typically need an ET of 43 (8 inch wheels) to 48 mm (9 inch wheels). You can often get away with a slightly different "ET" but if it's too high you can have contact between the wheel and (typically) the brake caliper, or tire contact with a spring, and if it's too low the tires may interfere with the fender when the springs are compressed. Incorrect offset also produces an off-center load on the wheel bearings that can cause premature wear. Keeping the offset within 5 mm of the factory spec is wise, and using an offset that's more than 10 mm from the factory spec is possible, but certainly is to be avoided if you can. |

Yes, we do have the 72.6mm CB, same as the e9X. The X5/6 actually have three difference size CB, depending on engine and model. I'm seriously considering the AC Schnitzer Type VIII. They're forged and cost less than the 20" BMW wheels (although the BMW wheels DO look sweet!). The forged Schnitzer wheels are close to 20lbs each.

I hate to burst your bubble but the Forged Type VIII are close to $10K USD for a set. You might get a set of the cast Type VIII for under $4k if you look around. Let us know what you get and your impressions + pics!

I ordered a M-sport X3 last month at beginning of March, still waiting for it to come on ~June. I asked to trade-in the 19" the M-sport comes with, with the 20" M double spoke 310 wheels, the dealer charges me AU$8K (~US$9K) for it!! If it was new (not trade-in the 19"), they charge $11K!!
Not happy with it and turned away! http://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showth...6quot%3B+wheel |
