Maybe because it was never an option before. Hopefully these type of offerings do not derail a proper M version in 2017.

If anything, they prove the market.

Thought it was $1500 all included for 28i

GroupBuy for NY/NJ Unless BR-Performance comes to USA and offers good pricing cuz for sure their performance is
though I am really enjoying my RaceChip (faster and MPG improvement)

^ $1499 is the cost for all the parts necessary for the N20 engine Dinan tune in the 28i. The 35i model is more expensive @ $1999. Of course you have labor and tax which is extra on top of the following prices.

You can always negotiate with your dealer. My dealer is offering me $1900 installed.

So ran into a little issue with dinantronic tune. The problem lies with BMW and that because my x3 was produced early 07/2012 and somehow happened to receive a mechanical wastegate when BMW switched to electronic wastegates around the same time and only introduced the n20 to the f25 for the 2013 model year which was around the same time, I was not able to flash the dinantronic box due to the software being designed for the electronic version. On the good side, Dinan expects to have the software by sometime end of next week so its only a couple days wait. At least everything is installed at the moment and all that needs to be done is the reflash which shouldn't take more than half an hour. Will update when everything is done

Again, sorry about the delay/confusion on your vehicle. We will get you up and running in short order though. We will update the website accordingly as well once the mechanical wastegate software is live so it will be compatible with F25 X3 28i's from 2012 build dates to current instead of just 2013 to current. Prior to 2012 the F25 X3 28i used the N52 engine-- there's a cut off date somewhere in there that will be noted on the website.

Is this also the case for 2012 35i's? I ask because I'm currently sitting in the Dinan Mountain View waiting area with my vehicle getting fitted.

F25 X3 25i's already have the mechanical and electronic wastegate versions available so you are fine. For whatever reason the F25 X3 28i mechanical wastegate just slipped through the cracks even though it should have been supported upon first release.

You will enjoy it once its done, hopefully there is not too much traffic going back up to the city so you can test it out a bit. =)

Any timeline update on CA approval yet? I just ordered my 35i LCI and the dealer told me they don't show it available yet.

N26 (SULEV) engines are the only engines not emissions legal as the state is requiring specialized testing on them. They should be emissions legal in the near term as well though. Regardless, the N26 motor was only on some 228, 328, and 428 models so it doesn't affect the 'X' community.

Snap! Thanks for the info. I ordered last week so didn't hear an update from the dealer. Do you recommend break-in before installation?

Does this remove the top speed limiter? Are there currently any German dealers who can do the install on US spec vehicles or can Birds in the UK do it?

Always. Although we have had a few M4 guys that I can think of off of the top of my head that didn't wait and their car didn't blow up so I don't think it would be the end of the world BUT that is strictly your call. We always break in our cars for development as that is the BMW recommendation.

The speed limiter is still in place. We are working on a potential solution for that problem but nothing concrete to speak of as of yet.

For international orders of DINANTRONICS, chances are a pre-programmed box would need to be sent directly to you / shop. At which point whomever is installing it would just have to have the ability to clear codes during installation. Outside of that its pretty straightforward and outlined in detail in the instructions.

For more info on that process you would want to call our sales department and speak to them about your specific situation.

Diesel remains unsupported.

We have been told that after the gasoline powered cars software tuning is complete that they will start on the diesel vehicles. Gas powered cars should be complete in the next month or two. However, I personally won't believe it until I see a diesel model in our shop being worked on. So far, that has not happened.

If/When it does happen I would imagine it will take a decent amount of time to develop it. So I would not count on anything for diesel in any short window of time.

Damn thats a lot of scratch.

I'm used to buying race tuners for motorcycles, which are much cheaper.
