X3 is pretty quick

Had some fun running with the previous gen (2009 ish) Cayenne S which I believe has the 4.8 V8 with 385 hp. Considering the X3 has only 300 hp I was surprised to be very evenly matched with the Cayenne. I know the X3 is quick but did not expect it to stay with the Cayenne.

Yes most likely because I think the X3 is around 800 lbs lighter.

Even a new Cayenne is is listed at 400 HP and a 0-60 time of 5.6 seconds according to Porsche which is .1 second slower than BMW's 5.5 seconds for the X3 35i.

There aren't many SUVs that the 35i X3 can't hang with. It's an impressive machine to say the least. I do think the 300HO claim is under rated along with the 0-60 times.

Agreed. It must have more than 300hp. Probably around 320-330hp. I just wish there were more after market products for the X3. I would like to get a good tune.

Well now that Audi has released the SQ5, which the 35i can still hang with. Either BMW will have to release a PPK or it's off to DINAN (if they ever release the tune), or Burger, etc proper tune on the N55 should net 360hp or so with OEM tune coming in much lower.

Here is what gets me about the new SQ5, while it might have a slight performance increase over a regular 35i X3 the SQ5 returns very poor MPG. We've seen over 28 MPG on road trips, I don't think the SQ5 will return similar results (19/23). Plus the Sq% is going to be much more expensive than 35i X3.

I agree. Gas mileage aside, being a former Q5 - SLine(Prestige) owner, I'm not overly impressed by the SQ5. The SQ5 is nice, but nothing enough to attract me to want to own one.
