Not sure, I have often wondered that myself as to whether they do a run of RHD vehicles for UK, Far East, Australia etc ....... I like the system you have in the US of vehicles going up the queue if they are customer sold !

Having been through the plant tour several times, I have not seen a pattern to production order. I don't think its RHD, vs LHD, and definitely not by color. Although they do batch painting by color to some degree.

Right and left hand drives are definitely mixed on the production line. Every vehicle has specific options pop up on a large screen at each spot on the assembly line and the parts are delivered to match. Colors are also mixed in the line.

I did work in a car factory long time ago, batches go per color and also depend on available materials from third party suppliers (like rims, tires/sizes etc).

Concerning tracking the VIN, has anyone outside USA been able to track the production process of their car through any side?

We were told 6 weeks, but it ended up being 3 weeks.

The software in the 2014 X3s is a big mess right now. None of the Internet functionality works.
