Interesting water behaviour x3 - Heavy rain drive
Not sure if its just me or this is not interesting at all... but during freeway drive in heavy rainstorm.. i noticed water accumulation on driver side window and virtually zero accumulation on passenger side. On the driver side, the water seemed to be trapped by a "vortex" and kept clinging to window. Has anyone else noticed this?

I assume you had wipers on?
Check how they work and where they push water and you might understand? Though I have to say MY 2012 pushed driver side window excess water to upper part of the window and the water ran like a river towards back. |

Just use "AquaPeal" or "RainX" and no more problems. And past a certain speed we didn't even need the windshield wipers.
(I have Aquapeal on windshield and RainX on other windows and lights) Last edited by Polar_Bimmer; 03-27-2012 at 06:16 AM.. |

I noticed this phenomenon as well when we were driving back from Spartanburg. I think when a thing is new all of the peculiarities seem so novel. Thought it was a design flaw at first.

Not a fan of Rain-X. Once applied, impossible to remove. Unless you keep topping it up you get awful wiper judder and noise. So yes, works well when recently applied. But my preference is for a clean glass screen that wipes normally. I even take care not to use the same chamois on glass that I do on bodywork - just to avoid transferring silicon-based compounds to the glass that I wont be able to shift. Ever. (yes, clear OCD trendencies..). Going fast without the need for wipers at all is a one-time lo-thrill event. Why not just turn on the wipers?
Remember: you cant change you mind on this one! Be Sure before you try.

I noticed exactly the same thing last weekend when motorway driving in pouring rain for the first time. Not something I ever noticed in my previous LR Freelander 2
