See the fuse box thread. As they say, under promise and over deliver. I was sandbagging Or I guess it's almost noon in Thailand, or something.

The only area the cable is visible is about 2 inches going from the sill to under the passenger seat.
Can you describe how you wired to the USB port in the armrest console? I was able to connect a hidden device (for music streaming) to the rear storage area, and was able to completely hide the 15' long USB cable the entire way...except for about 4-5" worth of cable as it came up between the driver seat and the console itself. Did you somehow find a way to connect to the USB port from underneath?

With CarPlay about to allow Waze, this would seem like much less of a necessity.

K40

I’m getting a K40 radar detector and laser diffuser installed in a couple weeks. I’ll post pics after it’s all done. Stealth install and it’s saved me from multiple tickets with the laser diffuser in my old car.

Has anyone been able to hardwire a laser detector into the instrument cluster? I didn't get the driver assistance package on my M40i but I wonder if you can hook up the directional icons to where the driver assistance notifications would show up.

Did you get those pics of the install? Curious to see how it was done. I may attempt my own hardwire soon.

Mini Fuse #59 under the passenger footwell is a switched source that goes off 6 min after you lock the doors.
Super easy path up the A-pillar and across the windshield.

How the hell do you get away with laser diffuser? In UK an attempts to subvert detection like that mean BIG TROUBLE.

I'd expect the same here in the US. Though obviously every state will have different rules. And of course they have to be able to tell that something like that is happening, no idea if to the operator it would just look like some kind of malfunction.

Alexm1982 has list as Boston, MA as his location. If you do some searching on the net you can find a lot of articles saying that laser jammers are legal in Massachusetts. In fact one was the subject of a court case that overturned a law and said that jammers mounted on a license plate were legal as long as it didn't obscure the numbers.

That's not the case in all states and over time the laws get updated and the internet is notorious for out of date information so, as they say, your milage may vary

Here is on of those articles:

I might go the Savvy route also to power my V1. I was originally going to grab power from the secondary fuse box behind the glove box. I already have my telephone wire ran down the A-pillar and it's currently tucked in the little swing out hinge compartment on the left side of the dash. If I want to grab power from the fuse box then I'll have to feed it from the driver's side to the passenger side of the car, then use a fuse tap and find a ground. Or...I could just buy a Savvy and pull power from the OBD port, and also get the perks of using a Savvy.
