Has anyone been able to hardwire a laser detector into the instrument cluster? I didn't get the driver assistance package on my M40i but I wonder if you can hook up the directional icons to where the driver assistance notifications would show up.

Did you get those pics of the install? Curious to see how it was done. I may attempt my own hardwire soon.

Mini Fuse #59 under the passenger footwell is a switched source that goes off 6 min after you lock the doors.
Super easy path up the A-pillar and across the windshield. |

How the hell do you get away with laser diffuser? In UK an attempts to subvert detection like that mean BIG TROUBLE.

I'd expect the same here in the US. Though obviously every state will have different rules. And of course they have to be able to tell that something like that is happening, no idea if to the operator it would just look like some kind of malfunction.

I might go the Savvy route also to power my V1. I was originally going to grab power from the secondary fuse box behind the glove box. I already have my telephone wire ran down the A-pillar and it's currently tucked in the little swing out hinge compartment on the left side of the dash. If I want to grab power from the fuse box then I'll have to feed it from the driver's side to the passenger side of the car, then use a fuse tap and find a ground. Or...I could just buy a Savvy and pull power from the OBD port, and also get the perks of using a Savvy.
