Coding & Profiles - can we marry them?

Question..

Reading more about these profiles; they can be exported so you can use them in another car.

So, if a car has been coded (mirrors, windows, trunk, etc...) -these are hard coded settings, right?

But technically, other settings like "audible on lock/unlock" is a soft code setting that you can change via CIC... but couldn't you also change it through hard coding?

My theory - if we can have someone who has done the mods, save his profile to a USB stick - and attach it to the posts here, can we in turn download it to our USB - load the profile in the car, and potentially his hard and softcoded setting would come over as well...?

Am I crazy? Is this possible?
Am I talking out of my a$$?

I donno, but I like where you are going with a downloadable 'patch'. ...but for some reason I don't think BMW would make it that easy.

If it is saved to profiles them you would only be able to upload to profiles. I see no reason why you cant do that but not a lot of point. Dont see how you can link hard coded stuff to profiles?

Let's get a hold on basic coding first and talk about harder implementations later.

A bit too simplistic no?

The navigator expects to read a file in a specific format, from which it derives the very small number of parameters to set your profile on another vehicle. All the rest is pure fantasy... (wish!)

The navi system is complex, contains a lot of protections encryptions and so on, otherwise everything could be done to pump up any option available just as soon as at home from the dealer.

Just go and have a ride on one of the forums on BMW coding to make an idea on how things work...

Anyone care to export a profile and upload it to a site so we can try?
