Oil Pan Gasket Replacement

Had my 08 at the dealership and I was told at 40k miles I have a minor leak on the oil pan gasket. They quoted me at $1602 to fix this problem. They said something about dropping front suspension or something to change this. Has anyone tackled this project? I have a lift and all kinds of tools just trying to get an idea of how hard it is. Thanks

This community is little slower, I think you should check in e9x 3 series forum for the answer.
Dealer quote seems pretty high, check an Indy shop.

Thanks this forum is like the Porsche forum I was on when I had my 911. No one really works on them or really mods them. Thanks I just traded my e90 on this new GT I ordered for my wife and it is a really good forum. I bought this X3 just to drive in the winter when I am not driving my VW diesel and I have owned it 5 weeks and only drove it once. I will do all work on it myself and dealer is a rip off.

Its a big job, dropping front subframe, removing front differential, and dropping steering rack.. Its a big job. While you are dropped the subframe, I would suggest replacing the water pump also. Get engine support bar and inspect engine mounts, as those may have to be replaced as well. You need a really long extension to get to the engine mount bolts.

I did this two years back on 2007 X3 it took two days to get it done.

Thanks man. I do have lift access as my dad builds street rods and has tons of tools. I am not sure if I can tie up the lift for two days as its always a problem getting lift time. My dad builds rods as a hobby but I practically have to make an appointment to get on lift. I have my diesel to drive too as I bought this x3 second week of february and put 100 miles on it. Seems nice but we will see. I already miss sirius I drive back up camera rain sensing wipers heated wheel on my new one compared to this. I never drive gt either it has 8400 miles after 14 months
