X3 Performance
Hello All - I recently switched from a 2004 X5 4.4 to a 2008 X3 3.0. The performance and sound are obviously way different but I knew that would be the case.
I am considering the addition of a cold-air intake upgrade as advertised in Bavarian Autosport which promises increased HP and a better sound. Does anyone have any experience with this system (aFe) or a similar system? I would appreciate any feedback or experiences. Thanks very much for your time. John |

AFE Makes great products but don't expect to see a radical increase in horsepower or torque from just an intake, especially with an NA engine. You will get a slight increase in intake sound but not a lot.
If you want a bit of a power boost I can recommend Burger Tuning's Powerbox for the 3.0. It will give you about 5-10 horsepower plus a great increase in throttle response |

Thanks for the info - I checked out the Powerbox and it looks interesting. I like the option to select mappings and the installation looks pretty straight forward based on the manual. Price is decent too. My only concern is any warrantee issues, but if the box is really invisible to disgnostic equipment then it might be a possibility. Thanks again

AFE intake is a great product, but kills low end torque on N52.. I had it installed on my 330i and it made more noise than cat back exhaust.. Get the power box first, and a drop in filter.
