Wheel speed sensors
I have a 2011 X3 F25 2.0D that need to substitute 3 of the 4 wheel speed sensors. In all 3 times have several errors lights on:
4x4 chassis stabilization drivetrain malfunction abs hand brake partialy inoperacional In the first 2 times have loss of power wich I understand but last week if I acelerate a litle the motor e / or tansmission vibrate and could not run the car. With the 3rd new sensor the X3 is now OK but I am afraid to go to a long trip and have a similar problem. The dealer only put news sensors and dont know what is causing a vibration in the drivetrain. Someone had a similar problem? Thanks. |

Either your wheels are way out of balance and causing vibration, or you have something loose/failing whuch is causing the lack of power and various errors on the dash.
I suspect something more than just wheel sensors? |

The vibration was in drivetrain and not in the wheels. Normaly when a wheel sensor (pulse generator) fails there are some errors on the dash and sometimes a lack of power (safe mode). But in my case, in the last time, if I acelerate only a litle the drivetrain vibrates so much. The X3 only could run at
a very very slow speed without any aceleration. Now with the new sensor the X3 is running normally but I dont know when I have a similar problem. I suspect of a software problem that put the car in safe mode so I put the problem to BMW PORTUGAL and wait a replay. Many thanks and sorry for my poor english. |

I had a sensor go bad recently. A bunch of lights came on. Car still ran fine. But cruise control was disabled, and other features like pedestrian collision protection and ABS was disabled.
After years of cruise control, I kept on finding myself speeding on the highway |

In my case was a bad sensor that counts the velocity of the wheel and such information is used for many systems (ABS, Xdrive, DSC etc). kevink1 I suggest to change the bad sensor. In my case in the beginning there was some errors and the X3 runs normally but after some time it have a loss of power and finally could not run . I could not acelerate nothing because a strange drivetrain appears. The problem with this bad sensors is that the consequencies are not the same all the time and is this problem I put to BMW. Thanks. |

When I got to my destination, I stopped at the dealership and dropped the car off to get fixed under warranty.
200 miles from home. So I drove a loaner until the car was fixed, then headed back after work during the week to pick up my car. |
