Warranty Question
I bought a CPO X3. All the paperwork I read says the maintenance program did not transfer. The closest BMW dealership is over an hour away. My question is this: if I have a local independent shop (which specializes in foreign vehicles) change the oil at the appropriate time (every 10k miles) using BMW oil, will that affect the warranty?
FWIW, when I had my 335i, oil changes were supposed to be at 15k miles. I paid the local shop to change it at 7500 miles and then took it to the dealership for the free 15K oil change. They've been around for years, and I trust them to know what they are doing.

You are correct that program did not transfer after I think it was 2014 cars. And CPO is a year now and was 2 years in 14 and before. You are not required to have the oil changed by BMW, but the more documentation the better. Instead of just getting a receipt that says "oil change" or "7 qts. synthetic" or something, have them enter the BMW oil and filter part numbers.
